I have a set of outdoor flood lights that can be tuned on or off by any one of four switches located at each door. I need to eliminate one of the switches. How do? Other than leave one switch and wire coiled up in the attic...I already know how to do that.
3 or 4 switches is the same switch / wiring combination. you can eliminate the switch and splice the 3 way wires in a BOX VISIBLE in the attic. Google 3 way and 4 way switches it should make sense. 14/3 goes box to box connecting switches, just remove the switch and wire nut wires together. there should be 2 4way switches remove one of them.
Got the switch pulled tonight and the black wires were nutted together in the back of the box and the reds and whites were on the switch. Should still be able to connect like colors in a box in the attic.... Correct?
Could you put the black wires where they belong (the switch) and do the white wires to a nut/pig tail? White is neutral after all, right? But it's just a color, I'm no electrician, and if you can make it work? Do what ya gotta do....
