You were dead on Paul. My buddy gave me some splits today that we had delivered in December, we split a full cord of "Seasoned firewood" I had resplit them and tested and some of the readings were in the 30% range and some readings we out of the meters range. Big difference in the before and after resplit readings. Thanks again for your help.
Checking the outside of a chunk won't tell you anything , split it and check it then n there smack in the middle, to know what the moisture content is inside the wood.
Oh yes, the famous "seasoned in the truck on the way here" trick. Or the "its been on the ground for years (uncut/split), it's seasoned" story.
They probably don't (re-branded?), but charge a premium $? Still, a nice looking piece of equipment....
