actually there is kinda a long back story to this vid. Last Saturday I pulled old splitty outta it's long winters nap and did a full service job on it. After new filters, plug, and whatever else I needed to do I was all gungho to get at it. Pulled and pulled ad no start. Well I checked and there was no spark to the plug. Stripped the engine down and cleaned up the magnet on the flywheel, pulled the ignition mod and cleaned the armitures up and buttoned it back up. Still no spark. So, I realize that over the winter just sitting around the ignition modual decided to chit the bed even though Briggs and Stratton claims that is one part that will not fail. So I call my local small engine guy about a new one. Well he asks if it has auto choke, manual choke, all kinds of carb questions. I gave him the numbers offn the engine and told him it was the primer bulb deal. Apparently he was not listening to me because his computer was telling him some thing different. Well, my guy thought he had a mod on the shelf that would work but it was 50 bucks and I would need a new fly wheel vane??? I said I would get back to him the next week when he wasnt suffering from a hang over. As luck would have it I found a donar engine out back in the weeds that was similar to the one on my splitter. After 5 minutes I had a running wood splitter again.
According to the dealer and his computter the part I replaced it with should not, can not work on my machine. PPPPUUUUTTTTHHHHH! I call bull chit!
