On the '00 Camry, the Raybestos Professional Grade rotors are holding up excellent, they were OE quality - but expensive. If you can score them at RockAuto or Amazon, it lessens the sting .. Shipping adds up though. Been buying through Amazon, because of the Prime account, the free shipping makes the membership worth it, here.

The ThermoQuiet (ceramic) pads on the Taurus lasted 2.5 years / 40,000 + miles, which I thought was pretty good - considering the rotors used. Never heard a squeak, was always confident the vehicle would stop quickly - they seem a good fit for the Taurus. But that's just one particular vehicle on the planet. Agree there are better options / brands available.

What happened? They both use to be the "go to" for brake parts.

I will be hard watching the rears and if anything does wrong within the year warranty, those Napa will be coming off

Ive been looking on Rockauto for the front hardware.

Looking into Akebono, Beck/Arnly and Raybestos for the front pads.

Front rotor preferences? Looking at getting away from the single disk and trying vented like the old days?

Regarding OE, I was thinking of just going with Honda as my original rear rotors lasted 158K (if it wasnt for the worn pad scoring the rotor it was still fine) and the fronts lasted about 140K before warping. Talking with my mechanic he told me that OEM parts are generaly not original manufacture anymore. Many are reboxing and you are paying much more for what you can get for less $$. I am pretty sure that Akebono IS the manufacture for Honda original pads.

I went back to OEM motorcraft from Rock Auto. As the original set went 70K and I couldn't get 10K out of Napa or wagner. I've had the MC on now for 20K and not even a wobble or peddle pulse. Napa set made it to 6k and warped. Napa replaced em with wagner and they warped in less than 3K....... Well sir, There's nothing we can do.

I left them on Napa's front steps with a note on where they can put em!!

:emb: Guess the Eco65 is over due for a deep clean. Almost a record high here today temperature wise so I turned the stove off for several hours. After igniting to where the blower kicked on a puff of microscopic grey ash puffed out:rofl:  Guess I know one of my chores this weekend.

I use the Napa Ultra premium or we go oe . For many things we use oe anymore, blower motors, waterpumps, wiper motors, engines, trans and transfer cases etc. For the HD trucks we use almost exclusively oe parts. And boy do they cost.

Got 150 gallons of oil coming tomorrow, cant tell you the price, you will be mad. I did save the man his business tonite, a propane truck was just beginning to catch fire and I pulled the wiring harness off and got his batteries disconnected before things got too interesting. Truck was parked next to a couple of other trucks, a 500 gallon propane tank and a couple of rental cottages. I don't think his drivers will be "fixing" wiring and light problems anymore.

Local HD is out of pellets and Tsc has a 5 bag limit.

    Hey doggy

Are you using Napa for the family vehicles or HD trucks? Curious if there might be a difference in what Napa uses for product. I ask because I have had several poor results in brake parts over the last 4-5 years on my Ridgeline and my honey's chevy Avalanche. All were premium parts.

I hope things are still moving forward and in a positive direction for your son.

Hope it's a better day for you Will down in PA land.

Sun is trying to peek out here, then drizzle, then repeat. Got a quick look @ the rear Calipers this am, they be ugly.. and look spent. Not gonna mess around - ordered (2) from Advance auto, rebuilts / $50 each with discount code SAVINGS, lifetime warranty. Rear brake job just got much easier.

G, re: pulsating front brakes / steering wheel, that happened to me on the Taurus also after installing new rear rotors/pads last round, the fronts were equally bad & became much more noticeable when the vibration shifted to the front only. I lived w/ it for about a week before getting the fronts done, and it was a long week between. Those Akebono pads sound like the way to go, rotors - dunno.

The Raybestos 'Advanced Technology' line is their top premium line / above Pro grade - they may make a vented front disc for the Ridgeline - that may be an option to check out. But if it's pizzing you off, and the dealer cost is within 20-30 bucks, I'd just go w/ the dealer part(s), if here - life's too short to be stressing over brakes.

Have fun fishing JT ! (I'll be doing Brakes and 'maybe' drinking a Beer.)
