Nice always good to watch snow melt. Better than watching paint dry, or grass grow

I like that the pit is protected in the corner. Nothing like an outdoor fire to warm up the toes :D

    Careful there! Not too close!

Back in the early 80's, the neighbors daughter would come over and sit at the fire in the evenings and one night melted the bottoms of her tenners!

That happened to us while back packing after getting wet hikers. Still wearable, but a bit uncomfortable.

"Whoa! What's that smell? Somethings burning!"

    "Oh, it's my tenners!"

"Quick. Go stand in the lake!"

My kids and their friends melted their snow pants getting too close to a pallet fire we had once. Actually they only melted one one leg each, the leg closest to the fire. I just wrapped the melted legs in duct tape, it worked for the rest of the night. True story.

New construction of a house for a couple from California......years ago. Came up mid cold snap to inspect the progress.

Contractor/home owner would not pay for any temp heat and let me tell you it was really miserable!

Well, hi and her show up mid cold snap (daytime highs of -25) and the only thing producing heat was a torpedo heater right mid smack in the main level. She came in wearing her skin tight blue jeans and high heel boots and fur coat, took one look at the house and sat down in front of that torpedo heater close enough to ruin her coat...scorched/burnt it!

Next day, she shows up wearing a set of snow clothes....something like an old snowmobile suit...and resumes her position in front of the torpedo heater. Yup, melted the suit! The rest of the time, she sat in the running vehicle.
