I started Mum's '83 Buick LeSabre and I noticed the oil pressure light did not light at key on. The car has not been started in a year; the last time it was started the light was working; I always do the lights check at key on. I checked the bulb by applying 12 volts and the bulb is good. I suspect the oil sending switch and have ordered a new one. I noticed this is a two prong/spade oil pressure switch and there are three wires going to the connector. I first thought that the switch does not ground to the block like a one spade connector switch but then rethought this; running a ground wire to the switch does not make sense from a cost perspective. I looked on the net but can not find any information on the wiring for the pressure switch. I am hoping that some of you mechanical ones knows the wiring diagramme for a 1983 Buick LeSabre oil pressure switch? If it is not the pressure switch, I may need to do some tracing. When I started the car a mouse jumped out of the engine compartment, jump on the door which was open, ran across the window and down onto the ground. Mice are bad about chewing wires but I did inspect the wires were they disappeared into a loom and they were OK but did not trace further.

The switch is original to the car, they can fail. However, the switch was only $5.62 with tax and is fairly easy to reach. I will check that wiring diagramme and if the same then I can easily check and see if it is the circuit wring. Thanks for your help.

That diagramme only showed one wire to the pressure switch; not the three going to the one on the car. I will do some more searches.
