As time permits for the the last 2 weeks the Misses and I have been putting up permanent 2"x4 "woven wire no-climb fence to expand our sheep paddock and replace the old temporary electronetting. Tonight we finishes the last run of 170', for a total of 550'. All we have left is to put up the gates. The sheep will love the new space.
Thanks for asking. We bred just two ewes. One died of toxemia this morning 1-2 weeks before her due date. We have one more pregnant ewe due early May. Kind of a crappy start to our sheep breeding, but at least we cannot go anywhere but up from here...
Looks like you had a helper - or maybe that was a supervisor That is too bad. Hopefully you have no more problems and things take off for you
Yes, the cat is male and definitely supervising. We were saying the same thing to ourselves the last couple of days when he wold join us. He loves it when we are working in his woods.

The electronetting is fine for adults, especially if the are polled. In just 6 mo of using it we've had two horned sheep get tangled in it. One when it was hot and one when it was cold. So, definitely recommend permanent fencing whenever and wherever possible.
Never thought of that. No fun. I have a calf pen made with an electric woven. We've been happy with it.
I am so sorry you lost your sheep, And yes. that will slow you down. Perhaps with the larger yard, you might be able to acquire another female or two and improve your odds.
Actually, we already have three beautiful ewe lambs, almost 1 yr old now, that we didn't breed last fall. So we will have plenty of ewes bred come next spring. Thanks for your support.
