Another Stihl in the stable...

Finally pulled the trigger on my first pro saw-MS 261 C-M. This was a want, not a need, CAD I suppose? If I fall in love with it like I think I will, I may have a near mint 290 FarmBoss 20" for sale-dealer threw in the hat and a RS Yellow chain that he had to order-18" bar, bought the 6 pack of synthetic oil to extend the warranty to 2 yrs and I cant wait for this mudhole to dry up to get her out and in action...the reviews across the board were the best I've ever read-PH is just a tick over 10 lbs

I love the slim profile of the body. Going to put a good coat of Meguiars wax on her in a bit just for protection. Will muffler mod when the warranty expires-Can't wait to fire her up, I have 3 ash down and ready to buck...yeah, I'm a little giddy... And this is proof I don't just help spend your money on wood supply supplement (see addiction/hoarder)

 

Your not helping my CAD! I've been eying a new 261 for awhile, every time a walk into the dealer I check one out, I just can't justify buying one. They just had a price reduction to $579, and I'm worried the price will go up before I pull the trigger. Hopefully I can get my 260 running right and that will curb my addiction for awhile. In the meantime post more picks and let us know how awesome it cuts!

The price I'm told will go back but my dealer got the saw for me before my roof got tore off March 1 and he said he'd hold the price til I got squared away, just waiting on the metal roofers now. Price is $559-579. 16"-20" down from I believe $619-639? And you gotta be kidding me Screwloose, I wax everything,, makes it easier to clean and I just love to watch water bead! Here she is all polished and waxed w/carnauba

 

Thanks Backwoods Savage hopefully its my last...The weight difference between this and the 290 Farm Boss is significant, that saw wears me out though it does have a 20" bar-if I dont sell it I think I"ll go 16" on it. Prob gonna be at least a week or two before she debuts but I love hearing it run...dreading getting her dirty

 

You'll like it once its broken in. Go get it dirty before you rub all the orange off.

 

So do I haha, still remember my late father thinking I was TOTALLY NUTS as I was waxing my new concrete mixer !!!! 30 years later it's polished inside and no dried on concrete the outside.

I have a ported 026. My MS440 doesn't get used as much as it used to. Buy either an after market or an oem mufflerand mod that and keep the one that came on the saw in case you need it. Every saw I own has a muffler mod, they make that much of a difference.

 

I have been waiting on you to pull the trigger...I love the looks of these saws....after 10-15 tanks it will come alive, my 461 was totally different with 10-20 tanks threw her.....

That's a lot of cutting there Khntr85 but I plan on hopefully getting at that ash this weekend if not still in a mudhole-calling for heavy rains on Wed-Fri...Yeah it took a little longer than anticipated due to losing part of my roof...
