Suppose to only be a low of 38 tonight and up to 49 tomorrow. I'll heat boiler and buffer tank up and turn it off before I go to bed. Then have a short fire in the morning.

Good morning.....Current temp 37° headed up to 39°. Its a rain sleet mix at the moment, with 3"- 6" of snow expected. The winds are beginning to pick up a bit. Loaded the stove with ash and birch.

NortheastAl, your county looks to be very close to NYC. How far from the city are you?

40° and a cold rain today, definitely putting a load into the stove this morning. 66° in the house today! That's the coldest it's been in here since last Fall.

That big river not far from you doesn't help. We have a steady rain but nothing coming down real hard.

Good AM to all, 37* today, raw & rainy, and 52 IAT. A big change from yesterdays' 60 and sunny with the windows open. Using some pine and maple to warm things up for showers, and dry the laundry on the rack next to the stove. Yes, we use the stove to even dry our clothes. It works very well and saves us :makeitrain"Electricity is very expensive in the northeast.

Admit it. You want more winter weather! We are -2c in the sun without a cloud in the sky! Ill let the coals die down from last night and build a fire this evening. Winters snow is starting to recede nicely now.

Sleeting, snowing, and wind is what we have at the moment. Temp hovering the freezing mark. Power went out for a bit, and i hear generators in the distance. Loaded up the oakleaf a couple hours ago with a small load of ash and birch.

It's actually not that bad...yet! Where we live is suburban with still some rural features. When we moved here almost 30 years ago from the city, it felt like another world up here. No traffic, quiet, no street lights and a load of shootin' on opening day of deer (big game) season (me included.) Now, it's getting noisier in general, more traffic and hardly a shot heard throughout the entire hunting season. Still not bad enough for us to pick up stakes. With being retired and the grandkids living a couple roads over it's not easy to leave.

I remember the school PTA used to raise money by selling square foot plots of an acre where the winner was determined by where the cow confined to the acre drops the pie. Haven't seen that in twenty years. Too many stuck-ups moved in over the years and I guess they thought it was in poor taste.
