Good work subbie. If going new that's probably how I would approach it. When I am serious about buying, I start with the sales manager by calling first asking for the manager and getting a relationship started there. They always out you with a sales person but you can fall back on the manager when needed.

Thats what I would like to find.

I lucked out on the Ridgeline. It was a Honda rep's truck and only a year old when I bought it, saving about 9K off new and it was loaded with every option plus add on accessories. The story of being a Honda rep vehicle panned out when I checked the Navigation history-it was all Honda dealers in the midwest.

Yeah I can be ornery with sales people that are pushy or know nothing about their product. Give me a knowledgeable person with the right personality and we are good-but that is few and far between. Lets put it this way, if a car salesperson is wearing a suit, I'm gone

When it rains it pours !!!!!!!!!

Out yesterday getting some shopping done and having breakfast and the phone rings.

Its our tenant that rents the lower level of the house.

She takes care of an 87 YO lady and the old gal fell back a tad hard onto the toilet and broke the tank off.

    This was bad enough.
She shut the water valve off, but this toilet has a pressure assist flush tank in it.

Had to get the thing apart and unhooked from the wall hose.

The tank is fully charged with water, ahhhh WAS IS THE KEY WORD HERE.

The tag says to be sure to discharge the pressure before removing supply line.

    GAWD... BAD PLAN

I hit the lever and everyone within 10 feet got soaked.

    Anyway...

We cleaned up the mess and got the broken beast hauled outside.

Luckily we had a new pot sitting in the closet from a previous plan to remodel our master bath, but colors got changed due to acquiring a lovely dual sink vanity with all the hardware that did not match the white pot.

Replaced the toilet and life is good.

The pressure assist unit was nice, but we may fix that one as the only damage was the tank was broken at the base and the pot is perfect still.

Having a septic system and using the 1.6 gpf toilets is not a great combo.

More water is better for the septic system.

And a good time was had by all

Now maybe today I can get back to work on our master bath today

had a nice visit from MikeSs this afternoon, picking up a 1/2 ton of pellets. He said it was his birthday - had the day off. Happy Birthday MikeSs!

it's never good news when a tenant calls! My last call was simple, though. Day Care tenant calls - 'Ive got no water" HHHHHmmmm. let me walk next door where another tenant is fitting out his space. Yup, as i suspected - he was moving some pipes and had the water off. problem solved!

THIS gal is the best tenant we could ever want.
Good people "Pays on time every month"
Trustworthy as any you could find.

The fact that this is one large place with two sets of living quarters makes it handy, as we are here.

The deal with the toilet was a fluke and Chit happens ya know.

Back to work on our master bath again.
Got the wall panels for the tub surround all cut to size.

The directions said to score the panels and snap off the extra.

My luck is terrible, so I laid them out, marked with a sharpie and zipped them with my 18 volt circular saw.

All to size and no "BAD BREAKS"

Just gotta get the wall marked with alignment marks on masking tape and then glue the suckers in place.

Not looking forward to smelling the wall adhesive for a day or two, but oh well.

    Be nice when its done.

Fixed it for 'ya Snowy. Nice job getting it working again. I'll be working on ours tomorrow (supply line / shutoff valve), you know I just jinxed myself w/ this, big-time.

Hope all are staying warm & dry - cold, wet, and rainy here in NH land.. Crappy weather.

65 / 72 F next Monday / Tuesday though, if WU isn't fibbing. (!) Gonna be doing some brake work, even if there's no leaves on the Shade Tree.

Hoping the Congressional Approval, Presidential Order, and Special Dispensation from the Pope come through, so you get the new system this week from USPS there, STB. Bears are good hunters, right?

Back to work.. :loco:  Have a fun evening all. :D

Seems that these things go in skips, hops and lurches.

Been a fair bit since we had anything really gave much trouble around here.

Real happy the well problem was not back in the cold snowy weather.
That would have sucked big time.

Just did some brake work myself.

About a week or so ago I replaced the front disc pads on the Smart car.

Took longer to get the tools out and then figure out how to jack that little sucker up than it did to actually replace the pads.

Little rig has two jack points on either side and I had to rig up a block of wood to sit across my big floor jack to sit across the jack point.

Brakes were a snap to do, maybe 15 minutes to do the actual pads.

These were the factory pads I was replacing at 28000 miles.

Car had 13K on it when we got it, as it was an early lease return back to Mercedes Benz.

The rig came with full factory warranty, but there is no way of knowing how the previous operator was when it came to braking habits.

Many folks buy/lease these little critters for city only driving.

We do mostly urban running with a fair amount of Freeway hauls as well.

We have had the Smart from Portland to Seattle and back for a day trip, and many other long hauls.

Got 60 mpg on the PDX to Seattle trip and that was sweet.

All bets are off the rest of the order left *zon this morning. The out of sequence order took a ride late last night hopefully to the North Windam PO. which is much closer than the Standish PO.

That sounds like a painless brake job Snowy, Nice.

Planning a full afternoon here - with 367,000 miles the vehicle, the caliper bracket, slides, etc. will need to be pulled, wire wheeled, and de-greased, the usual messy work. Might be looking at a new rear caliper (or two) on the rear brakes - with the mileage they have on them, they don't owe me anything.. Need to source those locally before starting the job, hope for the best, and have a Plan B.

Closer is good David, that's good news.

Got the commode supply line fixed / cleared, was some grit at the lower end of the shutoff valve. Purged the (well) pressure tank, nothing really of any note in it. Drained off the hot water heater, it was a rusty mess to start.

Copper lines under the house are suspect - we have high iron content water here, it builds up in the copper pipe. Need to price out CPVC -> and just get the copper lines out of there once & for all, have been slowly replacing, over the last several years. The hot water side is essentially copper-free, the cold water side still has lots of copper in the run.. I may qualify for the 'contractor discount' with this purchase.

Not doing it today: 36F outside, basement / crawl space about 40F.

Gotta dash, stay warm all.

Well the Ridgeline went in on Monday for the rear brakes and it looks like I made the right call to bag it due to incoming weather. My mechanic had serious issues with the same bolt that I couldnt get to budge. He thought it was going to snap but finally got it to loosen.

Now I need to do the front brakes and rotors once it warms up. Brakes are still pulsating pretty bad and shaking like hel l at highway speeds if using the brakes at all, so front rotors are junk-cant turn these dam things any more. I will say I wont be using NAPA rotors again as these lasted just long enough to be out of warranty. With my mechanic using the parts I already had for the rear (Napa), I hope those dont warp as well.
