Wow,those are little buggers. And 10 speeds ta boot. A derailleur on the handle bars...I mean steering wheel ??
It's been a while since I looked at trucks, hopefully my 8.1/Allison keeps holding up. Gas is cheaper than the payments.
Best wishes whatever you pick !!!!

325 hp, 375tq out of that current cute Lil 2.7 twin turbo. Even with the current 6 speed auto, like for like cab and drive configuration, the 2.7 EB demolishes a 5.3 v8 gm. In every test too. That 2.7 also out tows the ram ecodiesel. The ram 3.0 diesel will get better mpg than the 2.7, but diesels have their own issues. The 10 sp was Co developed by ford and gm. It's in the 450 HP 450 tq raptor and the 600+ HP camaro zl1. The 10 SPD increases mpg, and lowers 0-60 and 1/4 mile times.

Yeah, it's interesting in trucks now. Said current 2.7 EB crew cab 4x4 get routinely 24-26 mpg freeway.

It's the high bearing loads, high rpm's, crazy short pistons, low as hell viscosity oil among other things that scare me. I'm the buy it and drive it to death guy so longevity is a priority. A friend of mine is lead tech at a dealership so I go out back sometimes to visit and bs and i am shocked by what I see apart.

I have one of those, and it works - sometimes . Best option is usually to drive the pin out of the joint, flush the zerk and grease passages, wipe it all clean, and reassemble. It's a bunch of work depending on the joint itself, but the shortcuts are hit and miss. Try some light oil in the rejuvenator.

Just as an FYI, in my experience, anything that starts to not take grease often times is not being greased often enough.
On some industrial equipment that I worked on in the past, we had to grease certain things way more than the manufacturers recommended time frame just to keep things lubed up and working...you knew it went too long when it wouldn't take grease...and we had extra high PSI grease guns too!

And also you never know if the grease is making it's way through all of the grooves, just some or just squirting out the first gap.

Really am I only one that pushes grease in too fittings until I get clean grease out the back of knucle? should I not do this? on bearings and tractor I though old grease (black in color) was burnt so replaced with new which is blue

On equipment like tractor BUSHINGS I waste more grease on flushing than is left in the joint. I use Mobil CM construction and mining grease on sliding joints. It is a "dirty" grease containing significant moly. On rolling element BEARINGS more caution is needed and flushing can be risky. Always use a "clean" grease, moly is a "contaminant" here I use Mobil Delvac Xtreme.
I use Mobil because a distributor is nearby not because I believe that it's supreme or .......

I've done it from time to time.

I don't need to use oil filter cutters on cartridge style oil filters. You can also change oil filters without draining the oil on well thought out engines with this style of filter;)

People seem to forget that the original oil filters were all cartridge style. Then someone got the spin on and toss idea. Also on most engines you can pull the filter without draining. The reason that the anti drain back valve you see covering the holes is needed.

I should add that I prefer the cartridge style. The spin on holds a surprising amount of oil even after prolonged sitting upside down. This typically goes into a landfill ect.

Hmm. The few times I've ever tried pulling the oil filter off on spin off filter engines without drawing oil, oil came gushing out.

Correct, a fair amount more will come gushing out, But I have yet found one to start a siphon on the pan.
