Very nice job Frank and Beans! Awesome shed man! Hard to tell how tall stacks are but I would guess 40 face cord or about 13 full cord in the shed.
Post up the actual dimensions if you have a moment. I'm going to be building a wood shed at my house this spring. I'm going for 3 bays, 10' x 10' each bay, with each bay at least 6.5' high. How'd you construct yours?
That really is testament to some serious hard work and craftsmanship. In the top image one of the end windows looks like it has a mesh screen, is that correct?
Luckily mine was already here when I bought the property. The slab is apparently where a pump jack used to sit when they drilled for oil years ago. The previous owner built the shed on top of the slab and screened it in. I guess they used to have parties back there, as the cabin is about 25 yards away. I'm not much of a party guy, so I turned it into a wood shed, instead. I also killed off the grass in the clearing and planted a clover food plot. We use the cabin for a hunting blind and my son has killed all three of his deer from it.
That's right, Jim. Some of the screens are still there, others have succumbed to time and weather. I am trying to decide whether to replace all of the screens and doors, or just not worry about it. I guess if it was all screened in it might keep the critters out.
A few leaves are not a problem. A skunk,on the other hand, would be a nightmare. As far as I know nothing is living IN the shed, but a giant female woodchuck lives underneath it. We have passed up several shot opportunities on it because whenever we see it, we are hunting for deer. Not worth spooking deer for a woodchuck. Also, a few years ago a female fox had babies under there. They would poke their heads out every so often. The mama saw me one day and presumably relocated, as I never saw them again.
I'd want to keep critters out of there, including those that sting. Sent from my XT1030 using Tapatalk
Just measured the shed: it is about 10' wide by 30' long. I stacked the wood 7' high. Sounds like yours will be similar.
Yep. I think I figured a 6' tall stack in those dimensions equated to 12 cord. Another foot taller, and you'd have 16.4 cords of it was filled in all the way. 5' high in 10x30 is 11.7 cords, 6' in that base is just over 14 cords.
Nice work, and a great load of fuel. If you really want to keep filling it, maybe some of us could come by and help you make some room...... we're gonna' need your exact address, what time it is dark at your house and when you might be out shopping or something..... Brian
Wow nice. Now focus on something else nearby and while you are out in The area, just have a look over and admire it every few seconds. That's what I do. Keeps the pride coming in. Nice work.
Thanks to everyone for all of the nice comments. Looking forward to adding to the hoard this weekend. Gotta get as much ash as I can before it rots.
