It's a nice start, if we get the 12-18 inches of snow from this storm the cutting will stop until I can get back in there again.

I didn't take a picture but we have two downed Ironwood not far from where I was cutting up top today.

The damaged sugar maple that's standing in my post number 59 will be the first I grab once the lane opens up, I'm hoping in seven days enough if not all the snow in the lane is gone so I can get to the damaged or downed stuff.

After scraping down the driveway and a few trails around the house, I took a ride down to the entrance to our woods I cut on and it looks like the middle of next week before I can get the rhino in unless I want to put the chains on.

We have lost enough snow that we can start back up on the tree line job in the next couple of days.

Thanks Hammy , we received another three inches of wet heavy snow and the rain came in behind it so maybe by the end of next week I can hit the hills.

There's what looks like a nice Pileated nest there. I'd consider leaving the standing portion.

Most of my shed posts a hemlock unstained and doing very well. Mill it if you can.

Photo0236.jpg I had this fall this past fall, cut in to 10' pieces and drug it up the hill with the Oliver 1650. Got it cut and split finally

I noticed this downed tree the other day when I was plowing in the woods so late this afternoon I took a walk up the hill having hopes it would be a maple, it's another cherry so my plan is getting down the hill in rounds tomorrow.

Picture 0025,0026,0027,0028 and 0031 are of the downed cherry. Picture 0030 is another cherry up the hill 100_0033.JPG .

I love those. Start at the skinny end and work your way back. If you're lucky you'll get to watch the rootball sit back down.
    Nice find!

Thanks tfdchief , it's not a bad place to be. I'm itching to get back in the woods so I can get cutting and get the tractor back in for some trail repair.

The cherry is all bucked up but still on the hill until the snow goes, I'll have pictures later. I came in for lunch and I'm heading out to see how the lane is heading back in to where I usually cut.

The last two pictures are from my ride around some of our property, I'll wait until we lose more snow before I start cutting back there.

    Food tfdchief , food!

I might be back on that hill the downed cherry is on, west of the cherry is a topped off or damaged sugar maple that I might drop for deer food, I counted 27 late this afternoon on that back hill looking for food.

So far today it seems like we're getting more rain than snow so since I hate getting the gear all wet, I'll take the day off from cutting.

Crappy rainy weather here for too many days! I suffer when the sun doesn't shine for long periods. Ugh, need the sun to shine soon. Chief
