Me neither. However, it was extremely close to that this morning. I have no respect for anyone, including a doctor who thinks their title enables them to treat their patients as if they are second class citizens. That title only means they went to a school to study a particular thing (he was a specialist). It does not make them equal to God!

He did apologize, which I told him I accepted but the appointment was cancelled. He stepped between me and the door. Needless to say, I did not think this a wise thing to do on his part. I did stop but was right in his face and stated, "Get the $^&* out of my way." He was wise enough at that point to realize I was not joking. I left.

Sorry for the rant but I have no respect for those who won't respect you. His title does not entitle him to treat anyone that way.

I'm sorry that happened to you Dennis. I know it takes some doing for you and Judy to make your way to see the doctor these days so it sucks that something like this has to happen.
I'm sure this so called "Dr." learned a life lesson today.

    I agree with your actions.

My physical therapist made a comment on my first visit to which I immediately responded and then offered another opinion/comment.

I reached for my jacket, and I told him without cussing that he is but a therapist with probably as much schooling as I have (just a touch over 4 years) and does not give him the authority to override everyone's opinion just to promote his own. If that what you are doing, I can save both of us a lot of time and aggravation by cutting this short.

He toned it down a notch or two and we continued.

Also had a nurse practitioner that the ex-wife thought could walk on water. He started in on me about safe practices and I agreed with him and said OK. But it was too late as his rant was started and he had more to say.

i stood up and faced him dead on and said in stern voice..Thats enough while holding one finger up kinda like this [IMG]

    He got the message too.

There are several websites which allow patients to review and rate their doctors. I reviewed my shoulder surgeon before I went to see him and reviews were pretty accurate.

A little to late in your case to look this guy up before your visit, but your review, rating and comments may better prepare his next patients.

I was only 21 and had a lump on my thyroid. Dr had done no testing and was my primary care physician, told me straight it was cancer, asked what I owed and for my file. Took me a lot not to be an azz. Next Dr took x-ray and removed a blood cyst in the office. Almost 28 years ago.

Consider this.......Dr.s and lawyers have what are known as a "practice".
They don't know everything, which is why they have to keep practicing.

several times.. but I'll keep it short.. first time 3rd grade a dr. of education told me I was EMR (educatably mentally challenged) I sent him my dean list from ivy league school 20 years later with his diagnosis. . I win

another told me my nephew was obese he was 2 and was getting indignant (I would have hit her, but she was a girl) I calmly as I could explained to her obesity is a measure of fat content not a height to weight ratio.. took off boys shirt he had a four pack and you could see every muscle ripple.. he is not fat he is muscular and short.. you cannot see muscles flex under fat..

at 25 a doctor called me a lazy weak whiner... I was over 6 foot and 200 lbs.. he was 5 8 and a 165ish.. picked him up put him against wall at least 4 inches off ground.. i said something my mother would not be proud of... turns out he missed read an x ray a bone was broken (fibia) I sued him.. settled for a written apology saying he was an over educated arse.. and made a mistake..

Days before I went to the ER and eventually had a stent put in, the physicians assistant at the doctors office diagnosed me with post nasal drip. I ask her, "your telling me post nasal drip is giving me pain in my chest?!?
"Yes, it inflames the blah blah blah..."
Asked again. "Post nasal drip will make my chest hurt?"
She came to the hospital to make rounds...I didn't have much to say to her, except," I told you it wasn't Post nasal drip"... in a not so welcoming tone.
She didn't have much to say...

Later, the heart doctor told me that most people that have what I had, "drop" :jaw:

My 87 year old grandpa who was in the Korean war has put a few VA doctors into the wall. Wish I was half the man he is.

Funning with you. Glad you addressed and corrected the problem; many (that age) would have let it go as to just not feeling well.

I knew there was a reason I liked you. Plus you reminded me I have some info to send out to a former teacher.

ER scalp wound 10" long down to the bone, had the bleeding stopped before getting there looked like h though. guy comes and starts irrigating and busting everything loose again , that was ok but he was using saline solution( salt water) -not ok - he was turning a bit blue by the time they unfolded my hand. they figured out that sterile water was a better choice.

After starting this thread last evening I was sorry that I did and thought about this morning having a moderator delete it because it was so negative. Then this morning after reading the rest of the posts from you guys, it appears we hit the nail on the head. So, we'll leave it on here and if anyone else needs to get something off their chest, feel free to do so.

I've talked with a few doctors about this sort of thing happening and they all were aware. Yet, nothing is done. Also, sadly, once they put something into their report, it stays forever and is looked at by authorities as fact. Naturally, the patient is always at fault and not the doctor except in very extreme cases and that is where the sueing come into play. I've never been much in favor of all the law suits but I guess there are times when it needs to be. It really is such a shame.

One other time I discussed a big problem (big to me an others) with my family doctor who I also look to as a friend. He was like so many where an appointment would be made then patients are usually told to be there early but still wait over an hour before they are even called to a room where a nurse has to check your vitals and ask questions that you would expect the doctor to be asking. But we discussed the problem of asking people to wait and I voiced my opinion that it is not just the doctor who has important things to do and that most people do have better things to do that to sit in a waiting room fingering through outdated magazines or picking their nose or whatever, so why do doctors expect this of their patients? To my surprise, I believe that is the last time I've had to wait for him when I have an appointment. He fixed the problem like it should have been fixed. We need more like him. I will add though that I explained to him that should an emergency happen, I'm sure anyone would be okay with waiting. However, that would be a rarity.

I've not had any bad experiences with overbearing, know it all Dr.s, but my wife has, and to hear her tell the stories, the Dr.s were soundly put in their place. Not only by her, but her sisters as well, when their mother was in the hospital.
Knowing my wife, I don't doubt the stories............at all.  She's not one to suffer fools lightly.:dex:
As an aside, one of my close nephews is a PA. He's not an azz, as far as I know.
