I have seen one, they are rare in my state but an awesome 'big dog' . Also called a Caucasian Shepherd I believe. The one I see occasionally was 175llb and had 3 coats of hair.
As others have said the lab is probably a great choice for what he is looking for. We use labs as drug dogs at work and they do have a great nose and are very trainable, loyal working dogs.
Yep. Labs. Great loyal companions. I've got 2 now. I don't think I'll ever not have at least 1 Labrador.
I've had American and English Labradors. Actually have 1 of each now, and they are so different from each other that they really shouldn't be considered the same breed. Yin and yang. English are so much more mellow, but still protective. American labs, full of energy, great hunters and retrievers, as well as protective too. Both are great family members.
That looks similar to a black mouth cur dog. They are great dogs, more are making their way up north. My brother has one now, and had one previously. Black Mouth Cur - Wikipedia
I have both also. My English lab is a couch potato. The American lab is full of energy and very curious.
I have an 8 year old English Chocolate...Crazy as the day we got her, They said 2 years but I am not a believer!!
My cleaning lady has been threatening to shave my dogs for months now, Blondie is kinda bald to begin with but I have high hopes that Blackie shedding will go way down.
We had llamas, no livestock to guard, but we always knew if a mountain lion or a bear (or whatever) was in the area, as well as WWW felt safer when packing in 20 miles into the high country. And they had no problem smashing smaller pests with their front leg elbows.
That's odd, our 1.5 yr old English Lab is chill. Yes, he still does puppy play time, but nothing like our 7 yr old American Lab. Our last English Lab that made it 17 yrs was just as chill.
We are on our second Australian Shepard and I don't know if I will ever have anything else. They are like Labs though with a lot of pizz and vinegar for a couple years. Smart as a whip, easy to train and nothing is allowed in the yard unless it wants to play.
We have two dogs that we rescued that are brother and sister Lab/Husky mix. Nice dogs, very good with kids. I have also owned two Rotts in the past, nice dogs but needy of your time and affection. I have thought about how in the future how I would like to try another rescue that would be a Shepard/Rotti mix or a shepherd/Lab mix. Lots of nice dogs out there that need to be rescued. My brother has a Golden Lab and a Boxer, and was asked several years ago if he would be interested in taking in a very large female Mastiff for free. Apparently things had changed and the owners just didn't have enough time and were looking for a good home for her. He took her in and although it took some time for her to adjust they just love their family horse. ( I don't recall exactly but I think she is about 160 lbs.)
lab and English mastiff barks at everything. Big arse lap dog. Still very hyper. Slobers everything to the max. Have you seen our boy Floyd? We love him. Loved our malamute's,but this guy is something else. We would be lost without Floyd.
