Ice pellets, no. Sleet, well maybe there is the slushy snow here (only softer?).

LOL at first I though Bogie was being silly about ice pellets since we burn wood pellets. Nope, they are real.

    Ice Pellets
(abbrev. IP) Same as Sleet; defined as pellets of ice composed of frozen or mostly frozen raindrops or refrozen partially melted snowflakes. These pellets of ice usually bounce after hitting the ground or other hard surfaces. A Winter Storm Warning is issued for sleet or a combination of sleet and snow based on total accumulation which is locally defined by area.

Just asked an expert (75 years in Colorado) about sleet and ice pellets out here. He said yes once in awhile. Guess we do not see enough of it to use those terms.

I didn't know that. Did he ever tell you about drinking the alcohol used to fuel the torpedoes? Or Aqua Velva?

190 proof. They had to put an additive in it to keep the guys from drinking it. I managed to find a 5 gallon can of it that I put aside real fast.

As for Aqua Velva, the stories I heard was old time hard core drinkers on the boats would pour a bottle onto 7 slices of bread and drink whatever came out of the bottom, perfume and all.
