In a month or so. 7 bundles, each bundle equates to .78 cord or so by my calculations. Delivered cost should be about $330.00 I was on CL, saw face cords going for $150. I just don't get it. But, it's been a bear finding scrounge wood around here lately. The mills and pellet plants are taking everything. Everything else is half-way up a mountain, makes it tough and dangerous. I'll take the slab wood, turns out the BKK loves dry slab wood so I should be good to go. phweeew! just had to get that out of my system. Thanks, JB.
I know each area of the country is different and that's delivered but around here that's high priced slab wood. Of course cord wood is a lot higher in some areas of the country. If you're happy that's all that matters....gotta give that Blaze King something to eat.
Reminds me of my youth. We'd get a load of slab wood and cut it up with the buzzsaw run with a flat belt off the pulley of the old tractor. I sound like I'm a hundred.
The yard it's coming from is 70 miles away, and they have to climb the Divide- they're at 7K, then over 11K, then to me at 8K. I tallied the cost. It will cost me $12 more per bundle for it to be delivered, VS me picking it up in person. Not counting the 4 hr. round trip in time. I'm digging this. edit- In person, I can only haul 2 bundles at a shot. Puts me at 3.5 trips to do the same as 1 trip with their self- dump. Saves me 14 hrs. of my life to do other stuff. Truth be told- they're only active on week days. If I was to do this on my own, I'd have to take time off of work during the week to make this happen.
That would be a good deal around here. We are surrounded by wood but it sure does cost. Regular firewood is 200 to 300 hundred depending on green or seasoned.
I would not equate this slab wood to regular splits, but it's not far off. I've done at least 10 bundles of this stuff, so I know what I'm getting. It works out to $ 60.00/ cord. BUT... While the BKK can control it and make for long burns with this "crap wood", I can't vouch for other stoves. Hope the I.S. can.

I've almost bought some to try it out, it's $50 a bundle here, supposed to be about 3/4 cord so sounds about the same size. It's always sugar maple when I see it advertised, I might try some one day, like you say in a BK it's controllable.
BD- No, I burned the few "Energy Logs" I had shipped to me. I had a few extra that I had a friend try in a Regency 3100, haven't had a report about them yet. For my part, I'm impressed with them. The BKK loved them.
I'm a fan of slab wood when you are in a pinch. The fireview cat handles it great too. As long as you have great air control on the stove you are fine. I think I am going to have to buy a cord of slabs myself, another week of lows in the -10/-20 degree mark is not good. I am out of dry wood and have lots of stacks for the next two years but are not optimally seasoned yet.
Nice. All hardwood. You see around here the only slab wood we have is from Amish mills. And all the close ones are using Pine for building storage sheds they sell. The hardwood furniture makers burn their left overs. What kind of plant is it you are getting it from?
They mill hardwood flooring, boards and they have a general lumber yard. The slab bundles are not cheap though, running about 100.00 a bundle, but it can be haggled on price a bit. With propane being scarce and outdoor boilers everywhere the demand for wood is high. In the 80's we could get bundles for next to nothing.
