When you guesstimate wrong in the fall when you fill the shed up. Hit the bottom of the barrel for designated wood lol I have a lot of wood outside, but it looks funny being so bare in the shed.
I know the feeling. I almost had a panic attack myself looking at the pic. At least you still have reserves.
I ran out this morning. Have to dip into 2017-2018 wood for the rest of the season. I expected it though - my old outdoor boiler was using twice as much wood as it should have. At least what I have for 2017-2018 has been split very small, stacked in a wood shed and seasoned over six months. Haven't checked MC but it's probably in the high teens or low 20's. It'll have to do.
Oops! I venture to say that we've all been there a time or two. My rack on the front porch is beginning to worry me, even though I have over 10 cord of well seasoned, ready to burn wood. Have a and relax then refill....ether container you choose.
Been there for the last month. The new stove was messed up when it was installed and I went through 3/4th of 2016-2017 supply before I called the stove company to express my dissatisfaction with the stove. The came out and found an install problem. Been using some of the 2017-2018 stacks
I'm trying to clear out my shed so I can get going on my pallet challenge but still have a row and a half to burn through---might have to move it out and around so the new improved shed gets in under the wire---I want that ball cap!
There was a direct shot from the firebox up the flue. On the older Buck FS-21 stoves there is a space between the firebox and the flue exit. There was suppose to be bricks across the the top of the space between the firebox and the flue exit. The purpose of these bricks were to redirect the flue gasses into the secondary burn system. There is nothing except gravity to hold these bricks in position and they shifted during transportation. The technician did not preposition them. I hope this makes a little sense. Wish I had a drawing program. It would be easier to explain. The new Buck FS-21s have a baffle now I've been told.
We have just enough wood left in the shed to fill the wood rack on the porch one more time. I'm hoping that will be the end or very close to it. Still we have to realize that I've taken 2 large trailer loads out of the shed because it was oak and not needed for this year so overall we will be burning a lot less wood than we did last year unless this cold continues but I think it will be warming up now. And as I'm writing this it is snowing...
Feb spoiled us here. Man it was mild. Now this snap has lasted longer than I thought. Maybe this is it. I'm still not ready to mow.
I started with almost 10 cord for 2016 - 2017 I have about 3 cord left. Should be all set for this year. I have almost 8 cord CSS and still working on 2017-2018 also started on 2018 -2019 I remember the days of going out weekends cutting dead standing elm, green ash and cherry and dragging it by hand thru the snow just to have heat for the following week only to have to do it again the following weekend. Happy to be ahead for a change. Who knew that there were so many of us like minded people out there!! Keep on :stacke:.
Glad to see I am not the only one. Blending in my 17-18 wood with the last bit of 16-17. I even bought 10 packages of the tractor supply sawdust bricks to supplement. Wood seems to have disappeared this year....... just means I need to cut more this year
I looked back on some photos...and I may have planned it with some intention of hanging my deer. I have a pic from 3rd week of November, and the wood is 7-8 feet tall behind my deer. Another 1/3 cord in there would have jammed me up big time. But still, it has that weird empty feeling lol
Oh for sure, I have a decent amount that I can use, it's just the empty cupboard feeling. I usually top it up somewhat in the middle of winter, so it's kind of deceiving to a guy.
Thats good. When I start seeing my stacks get smaller it bugs me as well. Every year I tell my wife that I probably will run out of wood before the end of the season but I never do and there is always more wood outside to stack in the garage.
