I'm jealous of you guys getting hammered. My plow has seen zero action this entire season. It's literally dusty. Stay safe and warm. And post some pics for us who actually want to see snow.
Storm knocking on our doorstep. 16"- 24" expected. We are 20 minutes west of Mt. Washington, and the presidential range is to our west and south. Storms tend to stall a bit adding to the totals. Eager to see what happens with this one. Stay safe everyone!
One station has us at 18" - 24", another has 8" - 12" with rain moving in from the coast by 4 pm. Central MA up into NH are taking the hit on this one. I'll be happy to get the clean up done before it switches over to rain, if it does. Be safe everyone.
A little hard to tell but that's about 6" on the shed so far and it's coming down heavy. They're talking about a widespread 12" with pockets of 18"-20"
Just finished first shoveling. Theres about 8" +/- on the ground now. Cant even tell I shoveled. Streets are empty, even McDonalds is closed. But the bodega where they keep the beer at is open!
I'm so grateful for the woodstove! Years ago I would get nervous because we would have no heat if the power went out. Now, no worries!
Wunderground has give up trying to guess at an amount and just says 12+". TWC is saying "a foot or more". Local channel shows 18-24". NH1 is reporting that 3k people are already without power - and winds haven't even hit yet . Hmm, in the Barrington region where at least one of the pellet roasters live. My gues is these outages are caused by people crashing and taking out power poles, but I have no first hand knowledge.
Made the first pass over the driveway and it looks to be about 10". Came in and had a look at the radar. Looks like the back edge of this thing is near Scotty Overkill. He's 70 or so miles West of me so we might be done in a couple hours.
A short video of the dogs playing in the snow. The Akita (the largest of the 3) is only 8 months old and has never seen snow. I had a hard time keeping the camera on him the way he was ramming around. The other 2 are old hats at this snow thing. Poor Jack Russel, the snow is almost deeper than he is tall.
Just very light snow here now. Got about 8". Time to head out and plow. Mrs TD is going up to the neighbor's to clean her car off
14-16" of snow so far and still falling. Supposed to keep up until 7 pm.(?) I got one pass over the driveway with the snow blower. It took 2 hours with an 8 hp, 24" unit. Unfortunately, I buggered up the clutch to the front end just as I was finishing. I hope we don't get too much more accumulation. Wife and I will be using old fashioned shovels for whatever else comes down today. I've still got to get to the office today. No rest for the wicked.
We have only a little over two inches today but they did say the worst will come this afternoon. I did make a run to fill up a five gallon gas can which had about one gallon left and the roads are getting bad along with the wind. The oil is good in the genny and it started up just fine, the genny is full and we have 15 gallons of gas iffin the power goes out. We just had our first big wind gust back here in the wood hood, cleared the Pines of any snow that were on the branches.
Great video UncleJoe - they are having a blast! We've gotten about 3" so far and it's just starting to pickup in intensity now, more winds by the hour. The height of the storm will be later this afternoon and tonight. Hoping for some thundersnow!
We are getting 2-3" per hour right now. I've got text after text of people who want their drive cleared before they get home.
