I had hoped to pull all these by renting an excavator. But it's a lot cheaper this way. I'll cover them with clay that I have and then a thin layer of topsoil. Hopefully I can get the rest of the stumps cut down over next couple days. Then burn them in the fire Monday and Tuesday night. Burn ban starts Thursday and last two months. Little bit at a time.
They have been doing this for quite a few years now. Spring has been the time of out of control fires. Usually some jack-azz trying to burn his field off, or brush, and then can't control it. Ends up burning down a neighbor's barn, garage or part of their woods. Local fire crews have to come and try to put it out. Cost them money, yada, yada, yada..... So everyone ends up paying. Now there is a two month burn ban every spring because that was the worst time. (No green foliage yet, just the dry stuff.) And you can be hit with a $500 fine first offense, worse after that. They claim it has reduced out of control fires by 35-40%. Oh well. If their is no law/control their is always some dipchit out there who will ruin it for the rest of us. So they figure you gotta have it. I can work around it. I never burn unless it has rained or snowed, and if I'm going to burn something large I wait until it is actually raining/snowing and it calls for it for a while.
Well that makes sense, I thought that with your Gov. Cuomo........................ Sure would be nice to be able to buy dynamite, I've got my share of stumps also.
