Ok, let me me start by saying that tho, I am pure country, I live on the outskirts of a tiny little farm town with 4 traffic lights and there are 1200 people here. Everyone does chickens, tobacco, corn, wheat and beans. I live on just one acre. But its a big acre lol.

I am looking at the smaller Kubota bx1870. The reason being as so that I can use the belly mower to mow and still have access to a loader and PTO.

Ive found a few around the $10k mark. Is there anything out there comparable that anyone has any time with? I am partial to Kubota but not dead set on it. This is really the largest "tractor" that I will need. but the loader will come in handy with both wood and mulching and a box blade can push snow if we get any. In my area, we may get a dusting but we did get 24 inches in 2012.

    Thanks in advance.
    Chris

I like Kubota also... my uncle has a 20 yo Kubota bx 18 hp diesel... got a blower, tiller, belly mower etc etc... got a great deal on it years ago... before I bought mine... he was why do you need something so big my little 18 can do all ya need... he's got 5 acres...must have 2500 hours on it now he still loves it... I used it for a week .. it was really pretty good until it was obvious I needed something bigger for my gravel drive..

I used a BX 220 on my 3 acres for 9 years. I had a MMM and a FEL. I mowed, plowed snow form a 500' driveway, put in several flower beds, and probably a few other things I can't remember! I know it had 1257 hours on when I traded for a larger tractor, only because I bought 10 more acres.

I think a BX would be perfect for you.

I have a 2305 JD. Its comparable to the BX, 24 engine HP, 18 at the PTO. I have used it to trench 100s of feet of drainage with the backhoe along with quite a few stumps, chipped up hundreds of tree tops, disked the yard to re seed it, use it to skid out tree trunks, use the belly mower to finish mow, moved hundreds of tons of stone , rock, dirt and mulch, use it to load logs on my saw mill, and use it to run a log splitter. By far the most useful tool i have ever purchased.

Hehe, Deere at one time (not so long ago either) said they would never do a backhoe on a tractor this size......

BX2360 here with bxm32 chipper/shredder, 4' bush hog, 5' back blade, carryall, 4' tiller, loader, winch on back to skid trees.

Bought it 7 years ago to landscape our new home cost $10500.00 saved $14000.00 landscaping bill. Now it plows the 700' driveway, has pulled countless cords of wood back to the house. Keeps trails open, puts in food plots each fall. Loader is great for moving wood from the stacks to the house. I could go on and on but I think you get the gist of it. :deadhorse:

Would not be with out it. Good luck with what ever you get. Oh did I say it's great for bringing deer out of the woods to the house.:tractor:

CHeath are you looking at new or used BX's? I recommend looking at a BX2370. You gain a little power. You can run a 60'' mower deck instead of a 54''. The loader is stronger on the 2370. The 2370 also has larger tires and you can get R4 tires on it if you want. Also Kubota just came out with the BX80 series so you may want to check into those if you are looking at new. They made quite a few improvements over the 70 series.

I never regretted a Kubota. Sounds like a nice machine.

You may consider an older B21 with low hours. Removable backhoe. Tow a finish mower behind you. More lifting capacity, more versatility for future projects you or family/friends may have.

I will be turning to my neighbor to build me a FOPS canopy to attach onto tractor and my existing ROPS. The Ag tractors don't come with them. Great to keep sun and rain off you while protecting operator from unforeseen falling objects from above.
