Dad's Homemade Canes

DAd has been making canes for about 4'months now, is even thinking about making some to sell now. Thought I'd show some off.

 

Nice, I like the one with the bark left below the bird's head.

 

That's the spirit of the woods. I tried to get closer so you could see better. Has a headdress on

 

Those are looking good. If he really likes carving, he may like a power rotary tool like a Foredom if he does not have one. It opens up a whole new level with some practice. I am trying to convince my dad to get one. He is an old school chisel and knife carver.

 

Like a dremmel? He's got a couple, but these are hands done. I think he has used a lathe, though.

I use a combination of carving knives, pocket knives, gouges and Dremels. The Foredams and Dremels do a great job (with the right bits) of removing wood quickly and/or small detail work.

He's doing a great job! If he decides to sell some, they should go like hot-cakes.

 

I would like one, but I hope I never need one.

Dad does. And banjo and mandolin. I play a little guitar, so does my daughter. If you look at my most recent video, my daughter plays the song over the credits.

 

That whole thing is so awesome!!! Huge salute to your son, and daughter!!!

 

Thank you. She was so excited, this is the first time she's ever been recorded, she's almost 12 and just started playing guitar last summer.

 

Dad should hire the model ....
