And here is the haul. Back is sore and the jewels feel like they are sitting on my toes - but it's almost done. A lot of these chunks were real heavy to lift into the truck. Made a total of 3 trips with my neighbors F250 - filled up pretty high. The pic of the final pile at my property doesn't do the pile justice - it's about 6-7 feet tall in the middle and pretty wide - looking forward to getting it split to final size and getting it stacked. Probably another half load left at the site - lots of large tops to finish cutting - should have that done sometime this week. I've been able to get quite a bit of wood put up this winter - probably getting close to replacing what I'll burn this winter. I normally get this done in the fall - so this fall's cutting will put another year's wood in the stacks. If I put up 5 cord this fall, should put me at about 35 cord or so - about 7 years ahead! Cheers!
That is a loaded truck and it was the neighbors even better. Very nice days work! 35 cord CSS is sweet.
Thank you sir - my neighbor is a great guy and friend - we help each other constantly and today was his turn to sit in a truck while I grunted (he's 75). Cheers!
Thanks Dave - he's a great guy - retired and loves helping me with my wood addiction - between his truck and tractor, it has made wood gathering a lot easier! I wish he was 20 years younger and could plan to have him around as a friend for many more years. Cheers!
My work partner fully retired at the end of December is also 75. We go for coffee now and then and with the snow /ice melting will be able to go fishing at the cottage once again....in about three months. But same thing, whenever he needs help, he'll just ask and between the two of us, it'll get done!
Nice work! I burned a lot of red oak this year and I'm loving it. I usually burn ash courtesy of the EAB. But I have several cord of red oak that had its 4 birthday css so I began burning it on the few colder days we had this year. It burned so smoothly that I just kept burnig it for the overnights. Enjoy that warmth!
nice loads! My sciatic nerve is throbbing just thinking about lifting those chunks. I wish I had a neighbor like yours!
Nice haul right there. Judging from the height of the bed of the truck that pile is a beast T2 Tappin'
You are burning the sweet stuff! I also burned 4-5 year old red oak for much Dec-Feb - it is a joy and puts out a lot of heat for a long time! Cheers!
Thanks - it is a good sized pile! Spent a little while admiring it with my coffee this morning - yes, it is a sickness! Cheers!
Any time Dennis! Are you really coming to NH? If so, would be really great to meet you - perhaps NH Mountain Man would come too! Cheers!
