I actually layed in a hot tub for about an hour, then we rushed out to get some diner and a movie. Saw Logan and I gotta say, I felt like a part of me died... (for those of you that saw or eventually see it, you'll understand). Then sleep. Feel pretty good this a.m. Probably due to the new plush mattress we got delivered Friday.

We discussed this multiple times and you are so right. He'd have paid quite a bit for this removal. I repeatedly thanked him and he replied he was just glad to have a undamaged house and not spent a fortune. We both won in that aspect. He lost a large tree which was a bummer, but nature takes its course.

Weve been losing red oaks around here for about 10 years or so.
A few uproot, most just break off. Some like yours and some snap 10-15' up.

    Great score !
    And great pics!

Great score! I bet you got a cord and a half out of that tree. It's always nice when it benefits both sides of the deal.
Did I see a Stihl in that picture? Guessing not yours?

Oh boy, that hot tub sounds like it was great to be in after that work. And strange you mention it, but we got a new plush mattress Thursday and yes, I feel better too.

Fantastic getting all that oak as that should set you up really pretty in firewood. But man that really gets me when I see guys do limbing like they did on that tree. It is just as easy to cut it off at the trunk and not leave that short piece sticking out which is a pain to mess with.

    That's called "lazy limbing".

I'm betting 2 so we are close! I'll report back after it's split and stacked. And you did. It was the home owners, and 026 if memory serves. Stihl's usually don't leave an impression on me, Lol! I'm a Husky guy but I don't hate anything else, just prefer the Swede's.

I agree! I had to smooth them over and bring home the little chunks. It'll burn... is what my dad always said/says. I also hate it when they cut at an angle, like a trapezoid.
And the bed, we had one of those med/firm full foam tempurpedic like mattress'. We both hated that thing! We've slept great so far on a plush one. We got a warranty claim and only had to pay delivery for the new one.

Won't know for sure till its split. I think 2.5 is too high. We'll see. If it warms up again here in southern Pa, I'll split it asap.

LOVE my Tempurpedic. It has solved some sleeping and back issues. Mattresses are such a subjective thing. :camping:

Didn't wan to start another oak thread but here's some of what I picked up today. Was supposed to borrow my dad's trailer since there's a lot more wood but nothing ever works out when it comes to that guy. Nothing is where it's supposed to be, batteries are dead on things, tires are flat, the license plate is missing from the trailer, the 2 and a half inch hitch ball is missing... It never ends. He refuses help to get stuff straightened out or maintained, he sabotages or straight yells at you if you try to do anything that needs to be done. I have to take vacation time when he goes away to go over there and catch up on the things he can't do anymore. Then he comes home, gets pizzed, criticizes how you did it because he would have done it differently or tells you that you did something wrong. It's so frustrating to have him say hey you can borrow this tool or machine or whatever when he finds out I'm gonna go rent one or buy my own and then it doesn't work or work right. The minimal time I have then gets spent trying to fix it properly. He's got the money to get chit fixed right but always just rigs stuff. I can't work like that.

Omg I'm sorry for venting but today has me riled up. Should have had about 2 cords of wood loaded up and brought home today but not one thing went right. Instead I got my 4 by 8 trailer loaded up which is almost a wasted trip because of gas and the 10 dollars in tolls I paid. I didn't want the day to go to waste but when I looked back I should have switched gears and done something else and got the bigger trailer another day. I just didn't want the people to think I was gonna take advantage and let the wood sit there until I felt like doing it.

    Anyways today's haul.

I feel the same way when I head over to my parents sometimes. A quick trip over there is anything but "quick".
I leave my boat there sometimes because its one thing after another. My plans get shot to hell. Know exactly what you mean. Only problem is that my parents are often gone to their winter home in AZ, so its simple help I may need but it doesn't happen at the time you're often left feeling like its a handful. Don't sweat it. It gets to the point where you gotta try the self way of getting it done. Enough times doing that, you either get used to doing it alone or you don't do it at all since the battle isn't worth it.

Nice load, hope you feel more justified later knowing its getting the job done and that YOU did it.
