Thanks Loon, but you didn't get it. I never desired, nor asked, for a private conversation to be set up. Don't you folks understand the meaning of a " " in that post?

I have no true beef with this site for deleting 1 "server" post in 4 years being here. Your rules are the rules. I simply felt that the time was right to make the passionate plea to think about a change. Structured change, not free for all anything goes BS. Heck, I even offered to moderate it having experience with ruler whacking, and vast experience dealing with people as the Director of Safety and Security and Radiation Safety Officer of one university and the Radiation Safety Officer of 2 others, simultaneously. I know how to deal with things when they go nuclear .......... I've even been to Chernobyl.

Members passionately rejected that idea, as I knew they would while I was typing it. I just wanted to give it one shot before I moved on down the line. We're all entitled to our "Scotty" moments in life where we seek out something "better" for ourselves than the status quo. This great site only supplies a very small portion of what I seek in life. It's obvious that if I want to "sit around the campfire" and joke about something political, or have a serious discussion about a critical event that happened that day, I need to go elsewhere. As stated above, I'm going to spend my time where speech is free to start with, then try and get some "Hoarder" type conversations going there. Can you imagine sitting in a boat in the lower Niagara at Devil's Hole fishing with a progressive liberal, a tea party conservative, and some young idealistic "kids" (those are folks under 62)? That's the utopia I'm shooting for. Someday, maybe you'll want to pull your boat up along side ours and join in the fun. Just make sure you keep your line on your side of the border though and don't catch my fish ;). (Oh my gosh, :bug:, that sounds like some extreme nationalistic political thing our prez would say, better delete this right away!) :campfire:

Here I go again....... Seems like the "mom with a cookie jar" scenario.

    1. Mom buys cookies, they are her "own" cookies --- FHC is formed
    2. Mom says that "you can have 2 before dinner" --- FHC says come join here's the rules
    3. Lil snots pester the crap why 3 would be better ----

Mr boog I want to make it clear that I am NOT attacking you personally in any way. I'm not offended easily at all and would enjoy sitting around the campfire with you.

The "little snots" was good Screwloose, I liked that. Reminds me of the old lady that lived down the street when I was young. She hated all the kids playing anywhere near her place. She especially didn't like me for some reason, maybe talked with the nuns I don't know. Always called me "Snot Nosed Powell". Thanks for the memories!

Gary, there are ads all over TV with sexy babes lounging on beds for things that will take care of that. Don't want to be more specific here because "Hoarder" kids might be reading. Just ask any 12 year old you meet on the street, they'll be able to tell you.

That answer is 1000 times better than the reality of the situation!

After reading through this entire thread I'm perplexed. I read the original post and then started reading the replies and right off the bat the original poster was accused of posting something political. I went back up to the original post and unless something has been edited out I have to conclude that the political part was seen only by those actively looking for, and possibly imagining it into existence.

Do we really have to be so politically correct and terrified of maybe offending someone that every word or image is scrutinized to death? I agree that the nation is divided (as it also was for the last eight years), but does ordering and enforcing that we not see or speak or think about the elephant in the room make it go away? That's part of the problem with our society today. Not allowing people to speak their minds and telling them that everyone else's opinions carry more weight than theirs bottles up resentment until it explodes. That's why we have the result of the last election.
Tell people they have the wrong thoughts and dismiss them and it will come back with a vengeance.

But I've never run a blog or website and can appreciate the hard work and messiness of trying to enforce the site rules, and ultimately the owners have every right to enforce those rules whether I like it or not. I have to respect that. Whether I like it or not is irrelevant. I'm not the boss here.

I second the opening of a political section where people are free to speak their minds but it also has to strictly remain in there and not migrate to other threads.

    Here is my .02.

I was a member at the "other" place through the bitter political discussions. I won't go into how a wedge was driven between members over politics. I've seen it first hand and it was ugly.

FHC as I see it, was created for some breathing room away from that. Scotty and the mods put a lot of personal time, thought and funds to get this where it is. I respect that and have see no reason to alter it.

Most of the old members made it here, and I wish a few more joined. Some have dual mebership.

There are threads here that were poo-poo'd over there, particularly the hunting and gun threads. There is a lot more freedom here to share and discuss great threads. I enjoy this place as it is. I really don't care, and I would rather not know what your political affiliation is, vertical or horizontal splitting, top or side covering stacks. I'd rather just post, share pics and chat and use this place as it is.

Chris, you hit the nail right on re: this quote. Basically, we are dealing with a situation where all the sheeple in the herd are being kept in step by the herder using highly trained Border Collies to accomplish this. Since the herder owns the corral, so be it. Just a fact of life that the Border Collies need to work a little harder keeping the "Snot Nosed" component of the sheeple, running in the same direction with the rest of the herd.

    You said this:

[Give it thought again Scotty............. I'm really dying to hear what Wildwest, Gasifier, Stinny, Yooperdave, HDRock, (just scratching the surface here not leaving anyone else out) might have to say about the days political events!]

Here is my opinion. Be careful what you wish for. The grass isn't always greener on the other side. Is the site great right now? Why Muck it up with political discussion that leads to arguments.

It could be pretty simple I guess. The site could be changed to allow political discussion. And then I would just exit the site and wish you all very well. Simple. I have no desire to discuss politics here.

I have the same ability here as I do with my TV. Turn the channel. Everyone here has that ability. Don't they? So why not turn the channel to a site that allows that type of discussion when that is what you want to discuss. Simple.

For example. Someone, if they wanted to, could go to a similar website of good people that allows it in a separate forum just for that. That site might call that forum, oh, let's just say "The Ashtray." For lack of a better name. I don't know. Then those that want to discuss politics, and similar regularly argumentative type subjects, could partake in it until their heart is content.

Then, they therefor would not be creating any problems for this great site with a lot of great people. Who like and respect them.

    Simple AND easy.

You see folks. It has nothing to do with herding "sheep" at all. We are not sheep. And I resent that remark. And they are not herders.

The administrator and mods here just want to set a certain type of tone and subject for the content of the site to make it a very cool, relaxed, and enjoyable place for all, including young ones.

And they are doing a fantastic job of it. Which has resulted in a quality site with quality members.

I say keep it that way.

Yeah, shot nosed and Jerk, folks can go for the jugular at times, but they're just staking out turf, being serious or funny. Like I said above, crazy old ladies called me that crap before.

I don't see it at the level you do though, with the sheep, herder, and collies and all. Maybe its just because I'm not really here all that much so I'm missing something. As I've said several times from the start, this is their site, their rules, I respect that. I came into this thread from a tangent to make a one time big pitch, it was soundly rejected, over and done with as far as I was concerned. I'll be shifting to spending most of my time into more politically allowed areas as I have ideas about things I want to do to improve this country.

Loon, I replied to this earlier post thinking you were a moderator setting up a "private conversation" referenced. Did I misinterpret that and are you indeed the big bad boy who "calmed things down" offering to send me the post? Read my reply as if you're a moderator, everything in it is still fine. (I had copied it already before it went down .............. great, simply classic!)

I find it almost comical that you throw these accusations, yet when I kindly try to PM you, you never return my message.

You were at the place with me before, where politics made it MISERABLE. Where the one-sidedness made it MISERABLE. Why on earth would we want that here?

And what you don't seem to realize is its not one person that makes a post go south, it takes a village. So when myself or one of the other mods sees something that may lead to friction, we discuss it and act on it.

What's so wrong about that? Would you like us just to let the garbage pile up, getting worse and worse with each post?

Lastly, if you dislike the staff here so much, refusing to even reply when one of us PM'S you, why do you continue to stick around? It's like you enjoy crapping your pants, but you hate wearing the dirty diaper!

Help me out here, man!! GEEZ!
