She looks amazingly like a girlfriend of mine from back in the day. Waaaay back. Besides, she's got some woodworking skills. I admire her for that. DOM mah butt.
Well, the floor space has been reclaimed! Man, I've been putting this off way too long. I'm going to go ahead with 5 more brackets to use for the wood as I mill it. The plan is always open for adjustment. Kaizen.
Oops, I forgot..... the stack is about 3.5' tall, and 2' deep. The stack on the wall is just 4 boards high (4"), and about 16' deep.
The only reason my shop space is limited is because it's turned into a catch-all for cutoffs, and other shop stuff in a disorganized way. The shop is about 840 sq ft., which is big enough for anything I'll ever do....I hope. I had one pile of cutoffs cleaned up, and now it's back. No place to put anything, so I'm on the path of organizing and making places for stuff like tools and tool cases, screws, etc., etc................... Ran out of money and time a few years ago after I built it, so it's now time to git er dun. Not so funny part of it is that I sectioned off 300 sq ft of 1200 for my wife's kennel, and that's done right down to the paint. Wut's that saying? Happy wife................
You definitely got your priorities straight. For me, I just plain flat out dislike cleaning the shop. I do clean it, but I'd rather work on projects or read up on metal or woodworking skills.
Finally. I also got a couple sticks of wood from the same guy that I thought were Oak, but I sliced a little off both through the planer last night and it doesn't look like Oak to me. Looks more like Mahogany, but I'm not sure. I'll go out and take a couple pics in a while and post 'em up.
Well, those 2 boards were sitting on top of all the Oak, so I thought I'd see what I had. They're very weathered. Went out and started working on the legs for the chopsaw stand and took these pics.....
So, 2.5 years on, and I'm still on a roll. That wasn't Mahogany, but it is the highly valuable and sought after Walnut, so if I sold it, I'd be rich. I ended up cutting it into 2"X2" blocks for my wife. She wants to make some chess pieces for our son. So Jon fishingpol , believe it or not, brother and I went to a friend's place last week and grabbed a bunch more of some very highly valuable Walnut that he doesn't know what to do with . We went out to the shop yesterday and started the long process of milling said Walnut for his gun cabs (he now wants 2 made from Walnut). Whoever milled this had issues of some sort and a lot of the boards look a bit (or a lot) wavy. I can mill out some of it, but there'll be quite a bit of waste. Middle board is 17" wide. 2nd pic is most of the cutoffs....so far. Almost bought a track saw kit, but made my own guide instead. The brush is on top of it. There's a story of me doing something (else) stupid re: the planer that I may relate at some point. It's fixed now.
