All good Saws another to add to your confusion is the dolmar 421 / makita 4300.
It is a bit closers comparison to the 241 still but closers price to the 250.

If you can justify the cost of the 241 it is the best of the 3

I was leaning towards that one. I don't mind spending the extra money as long as it's worth it. I plan on using it as much as I can. Right now I'm using a 044 for my bigger wood gets a little heavy for the smaller wood after awhile

Frankly you're comparing apples to oranges-if you can afford the 241 CM there is no comparison-Stihl has a price drop currently so do check closely-I am picking up a new MS 261 CM this week and the price as listed now is only $10. more than the 241 and the power head weight difference is less than 1 lb. for a 50cc saw w/M-tronic carb...

I wanted to like the 241 I had but when it came right down to it the weight was just too close to some of the lighter 50cc saws.

I think it's hard to pass up the 261 type II at only a few bucks more than the 241 right now.

Exactly-the 241 is only 42 cc...but still the better choice of what he is considering,, maybe the 12 oz makes a diff-to me the difference is Stihl and he cant go wrong either way-if serious limbing and light felling is what he needs, the 241 is a solid choice-I'll have my new MS 261 CM w 18" bar in hand by the weekend....:saw:, sucks its gonna be wet...

For $30 extra stones and less than 1 lb more I would go with the 8 extra CC's and the 261.

I settled for a used 260 because I didn't want to spend the $$$ for s new 261, but I would love the 261 some day.

Meebe a top handle? For sub 50cc a nice top handle rates way up there in my opinion. Very handy for any ladder work or limbing all but the biggest trees.

Its just 10 stones now Dakota Hoarder but he's still ok with the 241 if thats the compliment he needs in his repertoire...Prob have MS 261 CM in hand by Friday...I'm deciding between 3/8 and .325....
    Happy choosing!

. Yeah ... I'm only looking for a 40 ccish saw 16 inch bar For small wood. My 044 is a bit much on my small stuff.

My 421 keeps me from wanting a 50cc saw. Even with a close price I find a great little 40cc saw more useful especially if you already have a larger saw to handle the larger stuff. Don't get me wrong a little 261 would be a great saw but more fitting for a one saw plan. As it does a little of everything fairly well. But a pound or even 10 Oz adds up when clearing the crown of a big oak tree.

    Yes
The power to weight ratio is great on the 241.
No homeowners saw or Farm saw comes close.
