I posted on another thread, but reposted here to get more feed back from the experts. Finally filled in the blank in my saw plan and traded my 391 for a 260 PRO. I got an additional $50 out of the deal because the 391 was newer. Having a little bit of traders remorse over the deal. Both saws are in great shape, everything checked out in the 260, I pulled the muffler and piston is like glass! I know the 260 will fit my needs more, and I will get more use out of it, just hate to get rid of a saw. Let me know if I did OK on the deal and feel free to rip me a new one if I got screwed! Here's the 260 PRO, she needs to be cleaned up a bit
You did fine; I think the trade sounds fair to both parties. If I could only keep one saw for firewood, it would be my 026. Mine isn't the pro model, but I upgraded to the adjustable oiler which was the only difference I cared about. You could improve yours easily with a muffler mod and adjustable carburetor.
Dakota, whoever made that trade with you .... go back and see if he'll sell you a house or a car. You stole that 026!
Not sure if I stole the 260... I just keep thinking that I paid retail for the 391 about 3 years ago and didn't put many hours on it. Oh well, I can't wait to get the 260 into the woods and put a good sweat on it. I can't believe how easy it starts, 2 pulls from cold and 1 from warm, none of my saws start that easy! Will the 260 pull a 20" OK or should I go with a 16" or 18"? I have all three so I don't have to buy one. I noticed the muffler has several small port holes in it(sorry no pic right not), it looks factory, is that how they came, or did somebody do some modding to it?
The muffler is likely factory, I would stick to a 16" on that one. More bar than that and you will start to miss your 391's power. Keep a 20" on your 441.
YOU DID REAL GOOD! I'd make that trade every day and twice on Sunday. I really miss my 260. Definitely stay with 16". It will keep it light and handy. That's all I run on ported 261. As MasterMech said, keep the 20" on your 441.
that makes sense (leave the 20" on the 441) that way all my saws have staggered bar lengths and gives me a reason to drag them all out to the woods and run them! crap, now I'm going to have to get another trailer just for saws!
bayerl, you miss your 260 and you have a ported 261? I was looking for a 261 all along, but the 260 was the only thing I could find, I couldn't imagine missing a 260 if I had a 261 ported?
I think it all relative to what you want or need. If I had two 70cc saw that 391 would be long gone for a 260. If I only had one saw ehh probably would have kept it. As far as what bar how much time you have and physical condition can dictate that. Me personally I'd run a 16" on it and let her eat. They will pull a 20" but compared to the 70cc well you won't be impressed.
I think you did good-got the saw your collection was missing by trading one that was redundant. Having larger saws, I would run a 16" bar on the 260, whether or not it could handle a 20" bar. I love my 260 16" and 461 20" combo.
I think you did fine and you will love that saw. I have been running one for a couple months and have really grown fond of the 260. Super light, nimble, oils great, 14k Rpm and has enough power to make me happy. 16" Bar on mine. 50cc saws are my favorite and I never leave the house without one. You were really missing out not having that class saw. My saw gained a lot from a muffler mod and highly recommend one for you as well. They are extremely easy to do. Timberwolf has an old thread on AS that you should check out. Best reading I have done in a long time. Not sure I can post it here. Pallet Pete ? This is the muffler mod I did.
The stock muffler on my early 026 has three holes, one right over the other, where Kyle's had only one before the mod.
As a former owner of a 391 (who didn't know any better), I think you did a good thing. I'd have made that trade all day long. The 391 was a pig. I went to a 361 though, so no comparison.
