    Smokey,

My one complaint with ddwrt is devices tend to end up abandoned. You end up needing these special builds, security issues don't get addressed, etc. that's ok if you're using it just asa wireless ap that's already behind a firewall, but not if it's sitting on the internet.

    Cool to play with, though.

Never had an issue with DD-WRT, have had more than one with OEM units both on abandonment and security issues.

I normally run a test of every update behind a firewall before sticking any device on the net.

ETA: Earl software was my stock and trade for longer than you have existed.

We bought one of those pieces of crap. The tub came out of the thing 3 times, dumped water all over our hard wood floors. Finally got Sears to give us a white Kenmore washer that closely matched the Samsung dryer. Not only was the machine horrible but the service was really bad. My wife made quite a scene in the Sears appliance showroom. They did reimburse us for the 1 month of Laundromat expenses we incurred.

    Doggy

I use very little of most routers options except for the media server just go back in the 780 pages of this thread where I was angling for a refund from Netgear on a couple of combo units (still not ready for any use by poor ole users, makes no difference to oem).

What do you check the device with? I will run a nessus scan on anything I deploy to check for vulnerabilities. I found the ddwrt device I had had a bunch of issues.

I've moved to using enterprise gear where possible. Consumer grade stuff ends in tears.

My electric bill is also 250-300 a month, so there is a price for reliability, heh....

But you have the code and can fix it. Script kiddies need not apply.

The only time I needed to return something to Tiger Direct - I had bought a computer for a friend and the modem didn't work. I called in and asked them to send me a new modem to install. They first wanted me to return the computer but when I explained it was a birthday gift so my friend could email her son overseas (he was in the air force), and her birthday was in 5 days, I got kicked up to a supervisor and he agreed to send me a modem and I didn't even have to send the other one back. Got it within 2 days, installed it and her birthday was present was a success. Of course that was ages ago (I bought her an original release e-machine - which should tell you how long ago). Granted, I haven't bought anything from them recently, so don't know anything about how they do business now.

I just leave the door open between washes. It is in the basement so it dries out quickly from the heat out of the P61a during fall thru spring. Not to mention that during that time the humidity level of the basement runs around 20%. During the summer it is a bit humid down there but haven't had an issue with the washer odors. Of course I have no kids and I always check for cats before starting a load (never found a cat in it).

hmm, should probably find out where that access door to the filter is . . .

And the plastic shower curtains maybe? Although there are a lot of "water proof" items out there that tell you not to wash them using fabric softner, so maybe it turns off that feature in case you put softener in out of habit?

i don't know about cleaning them, but they seem to like a ride in the dryer (the kind with the front window ;)). it gives them so much energy that when you open the door they FLY out!

Nope - it is in storage. Plus, so much salt and sand on the road and I don't want that crap on my bike. It gets enough abuse with all the rain and regular raod grime it has to put up with. Road around here are also experiencing a lot of delamination too. I can wait.

Carefully, very carefully - they have built-in weapons that they've trained from birth to use .

Mine is too... sorta... but I do start it every couple of weeks, and if the roads are dry
I try to take it out for a few miles, just to 'move' stuff around..
The other day, coulda stayed out a LOT longer... it was really nice to be in the wind..

Mine is 30 miles away visiting other bikes and being babied to warm temps, trickle charging, 5k mile service, detail and inspection. Don't have room to store it at home - which is good; I don't have to look at it, so I'm not tempted
