I would have put the stove in the closet and run the vent thru the living room... but that's me.

I am trying to figure out if it's genius or the dumbest thing I have ever seen.

I see a thimble, probably 7 feet horizontal, very close, probably legal as long as clearances are met around pipe.

Hard to tell if the shelving is far enough away, but most pellet stove pipe clearance is only 1-2", so probably legal. I would not have put it at ankle/knee level, but above head height.

Well, it looks like the pipe has the combined OAK, so probably within clearance required from that window. I don't know the particular requirements for that stove, but for my Harman's it would be fine.

A bit on the unconventional side, and as I mentioned I would not have the pipe at tripping level. But if that is the only spot you can place the stove, I am unsure that there is anything technically, or legally wrong with the install. I'm sure other's can tell me though ;)

Here's the problem with a closet installation- the clearances change daily. The pipe might be 1-2".....but who is to say someone isnt going to throw their workboots in there, against the pipe, or extra paper towels, or a long coat hung above.........?
Im licensed, insured, do this for a living, and wouldn't do this.....too much potential liability.

I'd chit myself if this was a pro install. Likely just a home owner who had this great idea.

Darwin might visit them? Just hope no one is hurt when the red trucks roll up!!

Oh, you (nor I), have no idea whether the red truck will show or not, but certainly this is a huge risk that should be avoided at all costs. This guy is loading the six shooter with 3 bullets.....one, being the long horizontal run, two, the closet, and 3, proximity to a window without intake air (can see any anyhow)......

I remember reading on, I think it was another forum, where someone was wanting to go from one room, thru another, to an outside wall. Seems to me that was last heating season too. Maybe this is that person?

Yeah, I didn't say it was a "good" idea, just looking for why it would be bad, or even potentially not legal - those are very solid reasons.
