I heard on the news yesterday that Stihl was recalling the MS 461. Thought I'd give those that hadn't heard a heads up. Seems the fuel line can leak resulting in fire.
Here is the link to the recall.

Fuel line on those saws is a very easy job.

Funny, I know of a bunch of saws (Stihl and just about every other Mfgr) that the fuel line can leak on due to chemical incompatibilities, physical stress, poor fit, etc. and none of them were ever recalled.

Actually grey and red if you want to get real picky. :loco: ;)

But the "white" really isn't white at all. It's a very light grey.

I will check my serial number, and if it falls in the recall batch, they can just send me the updated line. This is simple I would think, but I am glad someone caught this!!!!

Recalls are not always a bad thing, unless they are forced by another entity, by at that point things are bad.

My saw is "affected" Im not all that concerned.

I'm just saying, fuel line issues are nothing new at all with chainsaws. I wonder what what makes this occasion warrant a recall?

I agree, or other small engines.
I'd like to know what the "fix" is as well. Is it the line? A fitting or connector?

The problem was some lines got pinched behind the ring that goes around the intake boot at the factory. Some, not all. The lines that were pinched need to be replaced. The recall says to bring your saw in for inspection. It may or may not need replacement. Also, some that were in the effected serial range were inspected at the factory. There's a website that your serial number can be plugged into to verify that.

So I walked into my garage yesterday and about crapped my pants for a second:bug::jaw::bug::jaw:... I looked up to where I store my saws, like I do every time I come into the garage, and noticed I was one saw short:hair::hair:. Well I came to my senses and remembered that I dropped my 461 off at the dealer to get the recall fixed.:picard:

Dealer told me that parts wouldn't be in until Monday 2/27 at the earliest and that he had 2 behind the counter that he couldn't even sell because they had to be fixed first (guess who's saw gets fixed first). I haven't heard anything yet, luckily I don't need it for a couple of weeks, but... I miss my 461:(:(:(
