Adam, the lower level of the step top is 24" x 10.5" with plenty room on the upper level (either side of flue) for a pan as well.

This stove is an amazing heater for the money.

"It's an EPA exempt stove. It was designed with a 35:1 fuel/air mixture rate (so you CANT choke the fire)."
Real nice POS, so when the stove runs away from you and the house burns down how much pollution does that produce?
Sounds like a dangerous stove to me.

You can buy an nc 30 factory reconditioned (new blemished) one for 849 shipped.

If you check out some of my other threads, you will see that I'm looking at a few different stoves, drolet and englander primarily.

The Drolet looks nice but many more positive comments about the Englander plus the 3.5 cu ft firebox is a plus.
We need more comments from the Drolet owners.

If I were to buy a free stander I would buy an englander 30. Best bang for the buck.

Not rushing out and buying one today, hoping to hear from some drolet users. Not sure how face I will have to drive to get an englander, turns out my local Home Depot doesn't sell stoves. Maybe the one 20 miles further, but after that I am looking at hundreds of miles unless they can do site to store.

I read over at the other site about using the "right" zip code to get the $800 price then they ship it to your house for that price. There usually is a post over there about it.

The Drolet site has many customer reviews and ratings.. Very positive averaging 4.5 out of 5.. Blower is included and that's a nice bonus! Menards price is a real bargain.. I would think the Myriad and NC30 would be comparable.. Drolet backs up their stoves with a limited lifetime warranty as well.. I don't hear bad things about either stove.

I mums say, I think the drolet has the advantage at the moment due to availability in my area, price, and I still like the flat top since I use up to 16" pans. I think I will be able to see it in person on Wednesday.

Good reviews on the Drolet (thanks Ray) and the sale price at Menards makes it hard to pass up.
I like the looks of the plain black stoves.

Hard to go wrong at that price plus it's a convective stove.. The blower will be an advantage when you need to get the heat out.. Would like to see it in person.. No Menards in this area.. No plan to change stoves here just like to look :)
