Got another three loads of the red maple from grandpa's yard today. The tree service noodled down the trunk pieces, which probably made things harder than just rolling a monster up the ramps... But certainly made piling them up neatly at home a lot easier. Gramps doesn't like posing for pictures, but I did manage to get one with him and my 15yr old in the same frame. He was out raking up and grabbing a few limbs to burn in the fireplace next year. We stacked him up a nice pile of small rounds and brought some nice dry lilac wood to use for ambiance. The kid is still a good helper when she wants to be. Of course I love the time together, especially as it grows less frequent with her growing up and having track, swim, band, etc to participate in. Gotta take the moments when I can get em!
Yes, they do grow fast. My youngest called last night and he just turned 52. Where has the time gone? BigPapi it appears you have not got rid of the snow yet. It won't be long now.
Yes sir - we are into the mud now in some sunny areas. Supposed to cool off a bit next week, I am sure mother nature has one more good storm left in her before we get into gardening (and splitting!) season.
I would not count on old man winter being gone just yet. There are still a few tricks up his sleeve. This was yesterday.
You got that right brother! We ended up worth a nice (such a thing?) 14" by shoveling time this morning! Maybe an inch or two since then.....
No wind breaks. Those stacks of wood are the only wind break. Most people around here plant rows of trees for wind breaks but I like the wide open views so I only plated just few trees here and there. I just put up with the wind.
The driest wood I've seen stuck with a moisture meter came from your state. My buddy on another forum sent me a picture of some oak at 7.4% on a fresh split.
