I sharpened my saw just right and she pulled through the wood like a hot knife in butter! Sun was shining, I was working in a t-shirt, trees are tapped with the sap running like crazy, no bugs and my wife and daughter actually came out to help stack!

Canadian border VT You are describing my place with only the top thawed making for a real greasy mess. We may get 7-10 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow. Hard to take after 5 days in the 50's and 60's.
I would have thought you'd have more snow than that, looks like a perfect day We're pretty much shut down here, several feet of super wet snow in the woods, what isn't snow covered is mud. We got 50 some inches last week but it's melting fast. My stacks a couple of day's ago.
Last Thursday after work I took a walk down in that area; it's where our maple trees are as well. The snow was well above my knees and I was postholing with every step I took. My buddy was going to come over on Saturday to help me run some tubing and I told him to bring his snowshoes. By Saturday we didn't need snowshoes. By Monday our tracks from Saturday were melted down to the leaves. The pictures above were taken on Tuesday; not much snow left and where I was working got pretty muddy by the end of it. Crazy winter....
