I get the same bugs in my wood. I bring the split close and tell them either you get out now or well the second choice isn't good. They tend to hang tight and option two isn't comfortable
That's what gives my fire its snap, crackle and POP! And the little fire ant didn't have his helmet on so he didn't make it....see the importance of safety equipment?
I was thinking of hitting my wood piles with a insect spray made for garden veggies. Cut down on critters.
I lightly spray mine otherwise here in Missouri you will get a black widow problem pretty quick in the summer.
Those are snacks for my chickens... They go crazy when I find them a load of those big black army ants... Put those splits in the coop and they will pick at them till they all crawl out... Its cheap entertainment to say the least....
Look close....those are big black Junebug beetles...not ants...and Army ants are red...you must be thinking of the big black carpenter ants---which can also be chocolate covered and sold at specialty stores
I don't mind the bugs in my stacks they keep the mice there and not in the the barn or the tractor. The mice keep the snakes fed and out of my garden. It's all good as I se it.
