Today was a bit chilly in the morning and part of the afternoon but then the sun came back out and the temperature soared to 48 degrees!!!! Wonderful, I think.

Then this afternoon to our surprise we heard sandhill cranes flying overhead. What?! We normally start seeing them in March but the middle of February?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We've also been seeing huge numbers of road kill with coon, possum and skunks as of late. All things considered, we seem to be a good month ahead of time. Perhaps this will not bode well for the fruit again? But, I did get out this afternoon to begin the pruning of trees and raspberries. Will do more tomorrow and maybe even cut a little bit of wood.

Been seeing cranes for 2 weeks here. Got daffodils multiple inches above ground, gnats are out, tons of birds out, bees out, and just yesterday I saw a butterfly.

Methinks it'll be an early spring and the apples etc are gonna be gambling (with exceedingly poor odds) this year

Backwoods Savage we may be fighting your pet flies this April: (

Gee I hope not. We had no fruit last year because Winter came back with a vengeance right in th middle of peach and apple blossoms. Even what few pear blossoms set eventually dropped the few fruit they were carrying I guess because of the nasty drought.

I'm looking out my front window, drinking a coffee and watching a robin bop-bopping along a snow bank. Once the red-wing blackbirds arrive, spring is finally here.

I heard sandhill cranes yesterday while working on my hoard in the driveway.

We have our local winter fest this weekend. The ice carving competition is more like an ice melting competition. 66 degrees vs 32 is a big difference. Many other activities like ice skating and the bed race on the river were cancelled.

Eldest daughter and the Gkids were planning to come up this weekend for some snow tubing, but didn't. It's a good thing, as our snow is melting like crazy.
They would have ended up being stuck with us.:hair::rofl:
