Always thinking there, IHP. That's usually when I do my experimenting too. :D

Agree w/ you that B shouldn't have any issue w/ a newer Cyberpower UPS feeding one of the APC units she has now: the Cyberpower units will auto-shutdown before the battery is completely drained, and the APC units she has are the newer units with the vented casing (& better circuitry),

vs. the older style, non-vented 'solid brick' units. ( I see a fair amount of overheat / melting / scorching @ the battery leads on the older 'brick' and old style smaller 'metal can' APC units. The larger older Back & Smart-UPS units w/ case fans are good, and worth rehabbing / keeping.

Would recommend that B does a standalone run-time test on the APC units though, just to make sure the batteries are good -> to prevent any possible issue. (Mr. Safety here, no reason to trash a control board, due to any sort of battery issue.. If it runs good on it's own, no reason it couldn't be fed by the larger Cyberpower UPS. )

Right after breakfast :flipeggs: :coffee: Heading to the dealer to get my buggies first service. Then a little shopping. Might stop and check out the pellets at Lowes. See whats in the racks and back lot. Then maybe over to Wallyworld to check out the Pennington price/stacks??

Hit the packy on the way home and get ready for the clash tonight. ;)

Good luck w/ the Buggy service there Jay - hope all goes well. * Make sure you check the fluids / oil level, B4 you leave the dealership.

More sn*w removal here today - driveway cleanup, back deck, back roof, and climbing up on the front porch roof .. Trying to avoid the driveway & crawlspace underneath from turning into a giant mud puddle. :picard:

Then back to work on gathering bits & bytes for doing 2016 taxes.. Ugh, today is gonna suck. :D

Have a great day everyone !

No, this is specific to the Harmans. That particular APC model is one that Harman has tested against to make sure that feature works. Harman recommends one of two UPS's - that is the one I picked. It probably also works with other brands, but since I found them on sale for <$80 each (a couple years ago), I decided that the APC was the way to go.

Started test. Here are pics, little one plugged into the wall, bigger one plugged into the little one. Next pic is little one unplugged from the wall. The batteries on the little one are about 5 years old. Die for replacement. Run time was 40 prior to unplugging. As soon as I unplugged it, it dropped to 23

I will let this run until little one goes out and switches to the bigger unit. I also have a stop watch going to see how long the little one goes for. Top estimate is 20 min. Or so.

I have to dig out the propane tanks as they should deliver next week. Those tanks sit under the eave of the house which is about 3' wide, so they are protected. Only issue is that the snow dump from the roof piles in front of them so the delivery guy may not be too impressed with the mountain he has to climb

Also need to dig out the front porch from roof dumpage. I don't use the front door, but it is always nice to have a 3rd escape route besides the basement and the back door, just in case.
