Ok all, don't laugh to hard:rofl: , But is anyone getting infiltrated by those "DAM" stink bugs:mad:.

I've been chasing them all winter in the house flying around, now I'm P!$$ed.
Nice day out now that the end of the world hasn't came again, "nor-easter" ….. Moving wood to the house rack and nearly every piece of wood I put my hands on, theres a dam stink bug:eek:.

I don't ever remember having them like this:confused:, anyone else?…..

Fill a bucket or small jar with hot soapy water. Then just knock them off the wall into the soapy water with a piece of paper or what not. They drown quickly and this way they wont release the nasty smell. Of course you could always use a vacuum as well.

Thanks for the advise, we tried the vacuum trick with a small hand held and it still stunk through the bag….. It seems to be this batch of wood I'm bringing in. I had very few in the maple and oak, when they warmed up they would buzz around the house. I'm burning mostly hackberry now and it's just crazy in the houseo_O

Thats why Backwoodssavage Dennis hates any wood in his house unless it's in his stove because of bugs.

Hey, I have a few thoughts on stinkbugs.

They fly very erratic and land abrubtly (kamikazee)
    They are dumb, real dumb
They are slow to react when a guy wants to kill 'em
    They are dumb, and slow
    They don't sting
    They don't bite
They love being in between flat surfaces
They often congregate prior to winter
    They like woodpiles
    They are dumb, and slow
They don't die in subfreezing weather
They look dead but come to life in a warm home
Did I say they are slow?
    They stink when smashed
They don't stink as bad as some other stink
    They don't sting, or bite

I burn the little twirps they love my firewood. How they survive is by getting in the stacks and in the firewood then when I bring in the wood and put it in the stove they come running out. Some spiders too...

I only bring in enough wood into the house for a couple loads and then I'll look for bugs first. I get spiders off the wood so try to be careful.

I had one appear in my shower three days ago. I just let him sit there and he hasn't moved.

I don't believe Dave is referring to stick bugs but instead the asian bugs that look a lot like the lady bug. There is a big difference and these things can bite! They also will emit a very strong smell when disturbed.

Capetown was spot on. My wife uses an old empty yogurt container with just a little bit of soapy water. She'll put the container right under them and just scrape them off into the container. The soapy water kills them and there is no smell. If they are on a flat surface like a counter, she has a pair of long tweezers that she grabs them with or will wet a finger and touch them. They will stick to the finger a short time.

In the fall, remember they do not like any lemon scent but there is also a spray one can buy. I just don't remember the name of it right now as we've never used it.

In the fall of the year, usually early October here, even when sitting 20' off the ground in a tree stand, they will get all over you if you have any sunshine hitting you and that is when they bite!

Dennis, these bugs are "much" bigger than a lady bug. Loon found a web site and thats exactly what they look like. Ans said they fly like a Kamakazi, thats spot on! These don't seem to bother anything but just a pain in the A$$ and they stink if you disturb or touch them. What ever you do, don't squish one… Dam they stink!

We get them in the fall... when they get cold they want to come inside. Amazing that they get in. I don't have any in my woodpile though, and they don't come in on the wood.
