There's an FN plant in columbia SC. I know they make a bunch of the military stuff at it. My cousin got to tour the plant and shoot some including full auto on their test range.
It's an interesting pistol for sure! People tend to get caught up in ballistics on these, often comparing to .22wmr. It's a unique platform. The FiveseveN is light (23 ounces unloaded), has a high mag capacity 20 (30 with extensions), good factory trigger and is highly accurate with very low recoil. It is a pretty big gun overall though...not ideal for CCW. I find the safety placement to be awesome and wonder why more companies don't put it there? It's a lot of fun to shoot as well.
Doesn't matter much when it's me shooting! I did see some impressive videos of long range shots with it. It is far more accurate than I am...like all my pistols. If you do end up buying one, get yourself some SS195 & SS198 ammo for it. These are the two most potent loadings readily available. I have a couple boxes of the older SS192 but it costs a ton anymore...should have bought more at the time.
Cabela's has a bunch of guns at pretty good prices at the moment. I wanted to try the 9E for $300, and then he sold my wife the Mark IV. Happy Valentine's Day I suppose It feels nice. I hope she likes it.
As long as you load the mags she will love it. I've had many a sore thumb, to the point of being raw, shooting my MkII. Still, lots of fun.
Don't they make a speed loader to hold the button down? Never tried one myself. I think my 22/45 is the mark 3 I know I bought it right as they swapped model numbers. It was 2004 so I'm sure it must be mk3. That year they all came drilled and tapped for a scope standard and the previous model didnt
I have a Hi-Standard that has a lot stiffer spring than the Ruger, so I think I feel your pain. Maybe. We just bought these this afternoon and I have to go to bed, so no shooting today.
Now THATs a Valentine's Day I can get behind! I alllllllmost bought a green SR9 back when they first came out. Wish I had now. So many pistols, so little monies. For the mkiv loading, get one of these. $30 seems steep...until you use it. Amazon.com : Maglula BabyUpLULA .22LR-.380ACP Pistol Magazine Loader Polymer : Gun Magazine Loaders : Sports & Outdoors
There is also a simple hold down tool by Lula for less money. Amazon.com : Maglula .22LR Narrow Loader : Air Gun Magazine Loaders : Sports & Outdoors
They had a whole endcap full of these at the store for right around the same price. I'll take a hard look next time I'm there.
I use one on my 9mms. It really does make reloading mags easy. Especially once you get the technique down.
This is all you need for loading MK series mags: [TANDEMKROSS] Loading Tool and Lanyard There are a lot of them out there. I have to use a loader with my XDM. 15-19 are darn near impossible with just my fingers.
How about these for hand guns! The second and third videos are both .600 nitro express! Now that's a hand cannon!
I had LULA for AR mags and an UpLula for pistol at a carbine/pistol class a few years ago. When you're blowing through the quantity of ammo that we did that weekend it was a lifesaver for me and a few others who use one for the first time. I bet I could have sold 5-6 of them that day. We never had such luxuries as having a loading assistant in the early '90's. My kids are spoiled these days. I think our Butler Creek loader for the 10/22's sees the most use.
I'll keep that in mind about the ammo. The five seven is on my wishlist. Sent from my GT-P3110 using Tapatalk
