Pellet heads!! What's up today?

I get that, as the heat kicks my butt too, but for most older folks, the cold seems to get them more than the heat......take a guess why so many move to Florida or Arizona.

Oh I hear you on that. But can't get the wife to move a bit. She often won't even go out for ride. We have both lived in other states in warm climates. Neither of us can stand the summer heat. I could make a good snowbird, but again, she'll have NOTHING to do with it. If I even mention how nice the weather is somewhere else, she will start with "we aren't going anywhere".

 

My 78 year old mother has always hated the heat and prefers cold. Unfortunately she has lived most her life between KS, ABQ, FLA and CA. My dad on the other hand has always hated the cold (even when young, 72* was cold to him and most of my recollection of him is wearing sweaters during summer.

 

I work with a guy who's wife winters in FL and he lives in NH year round. He does go the FL for a couple of weeks during winter to see her. She comes up for a couple of months during the summer. She's retired and he can't stand the thought of retiring, so is working at 70 (part time so they don't take all of it in taxes). Hey, whatever works for them.

 

Been there done that many years ago.
But the cars back then were tanks and we had old beaters anyway so another dent didn't mean much of anything. We had some fun times.

Then what would we have to complain about?

 

I went from growing up a few miles north of Boston to central NH. Perfect IMO. I live in a riral/woodsy area but I am under an hour or so to main cities and only 90 minutes from Boston and in about 90 minutes I can be in the notches of the White Mountains. Love it here

 

It just started here less than an hour ago and immediate snow cover (well we already had that in spades) of maybe half an inch. Heavy stuff suppose to come in later into tonight with winds kicking in after midnight. Last I saw 7am tomorrow will be the worst driving conditions forecasted. No closing commitment from the owner who said we will talk again tomorrow morning and see how it plays out. Who knows maybe they are wrong, but they seem awfully confident on this forecast.

 

Hey you nidnods, wake up and smell the snow, it'll make heroes out of ya, the boss and I are back from our first Bay Haven run of 2017 me eat'em a lobster bun and slurped down some honker chowda. It was good and hit the spot.

 

Sure, say that now now that the weather has started you are back home and comfy. You should have done this at 6PM this evening
My warrior days of wanting to be out in this chit are over. I can handle it if I have to (helz I did it for 30 plus years and never missed a days work), but today I choose warm, dry and comfy if at all possible. Tomorrows work day I will see what its like in the AM, at best it will be a late start if I can get out of here.

On the other hand, lunch sounds delicious !!!!!

aaand .... BACON! and eggs. (That's what my darling wife made me today.)

Been sn*wing here since 9am, 3-4" on the ground, was outside sn*wblowing, building a sn*w fort, and dug an Igloo in the 6ft. plowed sn*wbank that I moved back, made room for more SN*W. (I just wore out the * asterisk key.)

Had fun going to the dump today, drove it like General Lee. Where's Daisy Duke?

Well, looks like most of the chit has stopped and I'm headed out to do some sn*blowing....looks like the total was about 4 1/2 - 5", much less than the original forecast.
Can't wait to get back inside the shack, warm up with some apple pie shine, then make a nice meatloaf for dinner.

EDIT:

Change of plans.....no sooner had I started shoveling the front deck, then the freezing rain started. No sense shoveling and then have a sheet of ice. I'll wait a while.....the sn*blower can handle a little ice crust.
