What's one of these worth in good working condition with good bar and chain? I know it's an older saw, but still a working tool right? Saw has no cracks or damage, just regular usage wear....it's actually very clean. It has been sitting dry for 2 years, but starts, runs, and oils fine.
Use ebay as a guide for the higher side of saw value (and take 10% off for what goes to feebay.) Without seeing the saw, a very good condition might catch $250, but it would sell on a local CL for $175 - $200. It's not an 026, nor 036/8 so it's that in between model that is less sought after. My opinion only. Post a pic, you'll get better replies.
Is this the one on our Classifieds section ? If not...take a look at that one if its still available . Very trusted seller...which is worth alot by itself
No not from the classifieds. The guy actually has a couple of them and I want to see if they're worth buying to just tune up, clean up, and flip them.
They look in pretty shape . A little spit shine...and they will be ready to go !! My gut says they are worth $200-$250/saw...depending on how they run..and how much compression they have . The 028's are still very useful as a no frills reliable firewood saw IMO . But... Im not a Stihl guy really...so some of these other guys might know better
A 028 super is a hell of a good firewood saw, but 150$ is all they're worth around here. People that don't know figure you can't get parts for older saws.
Cool thanks guys. There was 3 of them on eBay from the same seller that sold a few minutes apart. With shipping, all went right around the $165 area. Not bad but I didn't mess around with it. Somebody got some good firewood saws at a decent price I'd say.
Yeah, $200 is about the top if clean. If I could get them for $100? I'd buy all 3 of them Sounds like the bug has bitten another member I love it!! You've come to the right place
You and a few others.... I'm an enabler. Because I want to surround myself with other enablers. To keep enabling me
For 15 years at least I heated my house with only an 028. That was before I knew better......I could never make it with just one 50cc saw now.
I really like the 028's have for quite a while. You have a pretty decent looker, around here that would be a $150-160 saw on CL, and $200-225 on Ebay. 028's don't quite bring the money they should, atleast IMO.
