oh my, I am horrified by that news. We have bob cats around our house, but my two dogs are each over 100 lbs. Did the bob cat come into that enclosed area you have for the dogs?
    So sorry for your loss.

We have coyotes running our neighborhood regularly. We see them at night on the street in front of our house. I have seen their tracks in the snow, up to the front door. Trouble is Buddy thinks he is King of his Territory, and defends it at all cost. He is not afraid of the coyotes like my Oggie was. So I have to be careful when they are on the prowl. Because he will definitely take them on. And I'm sure he would lose. Again, so sorry for your loss of Rascal. I would be hunting down that Bobcat. It's just their instinct to kill for food but if it was beloved pet, we would go to war. Chief
And I love ALL animals. But my pets are so close to my heart that if anyone or anything challenges them, I'm in fighting mode. Chief

So sorry Woodwidow and campinspecter. This is sad news and we send our condolences.

We also had a sad evening. Our almost 17 year old calico cat named Cali was off her usual ways this morning. She did not seem any better this afternoon and I took her to the Emergency vet. Lab tests showed advanced kidney failure and she had a weak heart beat. We made the decision to ease her suffering. She was an awesome cat. Lots of heavy hearts here with our kids trying to grasp the suddenness of it.

So sad to loose our fur friends. They are members of our family. The weight of their loss is burdensome on our hearts.

When you have space in your heart to invite another fur friend into your home, consider a shelter pet relocation.
