Just curious if anyone has tried some of these as of recent ? Cannot seem to find any recent reviews or information about them, tomorrow I am going to grab a few bags to try them out. Local dealer I called today is in the process of moving locations but said he would meet me with some tomorrow. Of course with the intent of selling me a a metric ton. Just curious if anyone has experienced these as of late. Thanks
Look at some of the reviews for Cleanfire Pacific as they are primarily Eagle Valley(or at least they were)........ Also Northern Warmth(if you can find any) Are also Eagle Valley. I've found Eagle Valley to be very comparable to LG granuals and Spruce Pointes. Really decent pellets IMHO. Just don't see them near me all that often, So its been a few seasons since I got to enjoy them!! I'd have to go with Northern Warmth from CT pellet to get them. ttdberg has some in his stash IIRC...... Pretty sure he speaks highly on them as well.
Did not see this JT but hell went for it figured why not be the one to try them out, was going to grab a few bags as I got them from a local dealer but as usual my reluctance to do anything in moderation I grabbed a ton. Left ten there that I will go back to grab as I did not want to tax my truck and after doing an serious annual cleaning (yeah i know only have had the stove less than a week, told you guys I have OCD) I just loaded it up . I screen all my pellets but practically just wasted what ever time I spent screening the two bags ! was virtually no fines at all. Very consistent pellets size smells exactly like the Vandy's and was just a bit dusty which I have found out to be common with these type of pellets, certainly nothing to even begin to complain about. Price was consistent considering its the middle of heating system $290 a ton $10-$20 less than what i pay for Lacrete around here. Think I am going to be pleasantly surprised ! They are pallet ed metric ton 60 bags .
Holy Chit ! In my non scientific testing as follows: Complete clean of the stove and venting then load the stove up and crank it up on high with everything . I have a Rutland burn indicator mounted on the side of the stove where I take my readings, not exact science but do not have any variables so somewhat accurate. 802's have burned the hottest so far have not run any Geneva's through this stove the 802's temperature reading 450*-460* max Eagle mountains hitting 500* -510* I can even smell some more stove burn off like I did the first day or two when i fired it up . Will have to see how it continues once the stove takes on some ash along with the glass. Currently looks the same way as when i fired it up. This looks promising, only thing was the consistency in pellet length as a couple of bags had some longs in it. Nothing like the Vandy's but have heard a few guillotine crunches loading as these are extremely hard pellets.
He did sell me a metric ton ! Haaa Great young kid hustling to make ends meet and honorably in his fathers name, guess his father passed and him and his Mother run the business(she does the books he does everything else). Says ultimately he will be setting up in none other than Luneyburg ! Glad I followed through and ultimately checked it out as opposed to heading southwest to grab the 802's. Very good person as mentioned before as he nicked a bag and insisted he throw another bag in my truck, only lost a pint of pellets because of it so when i return to grab the other ten bags it will be nine.
Interesting that you were able to find Eagle Valleys in genuine Eagle Valley bags. These days they are most often re-bagged and sold under other brand names like JT said. Only two places around here that sell them as Eagle Valleys, so I assume this was KAS you bought them from? He advertises quite a bit on CL. Hope you like them.
Your correct TT it was KAS named the business after his father and just started to sell these in this area. I am loving these they are cranking out some serious heat and clean as clean gets for burning pellets in my short experience. Top pellet out of any I have burned to date.
Luney, I don't worry about fines in my stove. They just provide a nice fireworks display to watch. I just run my hopper empty every 2 or 3 weeks to make sure they aren't getting out of control but have yet to find very many. IMHO, waste of time screening them now you have a Harman.
Your Probably Correct Sub in fact I am sure you are correct, probably didn't need to screen with the Pelpro either as it has a good maintenance cycle as well I do enjoy the fireworks your talking about pretty wild . Will see if my OCD will give in to not screening , probably not as it has become a ritual. Thanks Bud
If you really must screen. There is a cool vacuum setup, Makes sifting a bag quick. It involves some PVC pipe and fittings. And a shop vac. Dump the pellets in and the vacuum cleans the fines off of them as they fall into a bucket. Now if I could only find it?
Haa I have seen it on Youtube myself JT I built a slide or chute using some 2x4's and gutter screens . I will have to find that video and check it out again. thanks
I will be testing them tomorrow morning in my furnace. The result will be in the decisions, decisions.... thread. So far I like them in my Harman.
