Heal well Dennis. In the mean time eat a few extra cookies to make up for the ones thewoodlands and I are missing out on. They help healing. Don't ya know
No, thank God. Trigger finger in middle finger and thumb. Took big bandage off last night. Was a bit of a task as the one spot had bled and as it dries, it sticks. But got it off and that alone made me feel better. Now just 2 bandaids on the hand and much, much better. I can even type this morning. Off to hospital for MRI in an hour or so.
The reason I ask is that I have the same thing. Thumb and first finger very tingly and the next finger just a little bit. Been like this for almost three weeks now and gets pretty sore at times. Even though health care is "free" up here I don't have a family doctor to go see. I'm hoping it eventually just goes back to normal.
While I so appreciate the personal invite Savage sir, it appears to be roughly a 400 mi. roll-but never say never I guess and I would certainly rsvp should I be able to make it-I've seen proof of the great time it represents and would love to attend-if but a couple hours,,,I'd be there and take pics for ya!
Chris F Sounds like you have the beginning of carpal tunnel. That is how it usually starts. It messes with the thumb, pointer, mindle and half of the ring finger. I had surgery on both hands last spring and hope to be close to normal by this coming spring. I was told it could take up to a year for everything to be healed up.
They tell me it won't. Mine started late last summer and was not painful at all; just aggravating. However, over time it got painful and got more and more painful. Doctor said picture a pulley at the base of the finger and the tendon running through it. The tendon swells and won't allow it to slide through the pulley. Occasionally they can try to treat it with cortisone shots but I was told this rarely works. Surgery was Monday. I removed the big bandage Wednesday evening before retiring. That was good! Had a bit of a time getting bandage off as the thumb had bled quite a bit but kept soaking the gauze and it came off. Now just 2 bandaids on it. Doctor said it should be good in 2 weeks time. I'm scheduled to see him on the 10th and he says I should be able to run chain saw by then! Hooray! I wanted to get it fixed before the warmer weather hits and more work to do outdoors. I can type again now too! I can notice a difference between yesterday and today in the finger as I could not straighten it yesterday but can almost do it today.
Ashwatcher we would be honored with your presence. You could even curl up to spend the night if necessary. Only charge is a smile.
My wife had it done a few years ago, I remember the gash she had on her hand. I've been doing some self diagnosis on the net and it could also be a pinched nerve near my elbow or even higher up. I can't recall the number of times I've bumped my elbow into something hard and the instant feeling that my hand's on fire! So bad that several times I've run to the tap and put it under cold water to try and get relief. I can sometimes feel slight pain in my forearm as well, that's why I'm gravitating to the nerve in the elbow. But I'm not a doctor, I just stayed at a Holiday Inn last night. As long as I can do my job and work around the home I can live with it.
