The outer spike would normally cover it. Unless you're thinking of a 371.

Nope. Saw was originally a 371xp. Has 372xp piston and cylinder and obviously the clutch cover.

Those stihls do a great job holding the wood down so husky can cut it .
Of course I'm sort of joking lol.
Here one of mine. I let a friend tun it so I was able to take a picture of it running :).

I know, sometimes that makes the deal, that's part of what attracts me I guess ;).
Here's what it looked like after I got it cleaned up a little(it's still dirty though) and a different recoil on it(this is #1). 20170106_152640.jpg
If you know your 55's you'll know what this picture is showing :dex:.
She's bone stock blowing 178 psi, glad every one else saw it as a train wreck :D.
I still need to do the carb on it to get it running well, then she will be a little beast.

Got another one(#3) two weeks ago looking way worse and it was, but I was able to use a bunch of little parts on #2 such as the recoil I robbed for #1.
Also picked up another ms310, not pretty, but pretty don't always pay the bills.

Is that an 039 wearing a 310 recoil?

How in the world would you know unless you tore it down and measured?

Cause a 310 would have flippy caps

So if it has a decomp and no flippy's it's an 039 with a 310 recoil. If it doesn't have a decomp it's either an 029 or 029 Super with a 310 recoil.

I noticed thise screw caps and was wondering about it. Didnt know when they may have been offered?

But it could also be a "farm boss" or true 031? Or was there no 031 and that was a 29 super? But you did say better!

Can't be an 031, they never made an 1127 series 031, only the old magnesium ones. The "farm boss" in the 1127 series was an 029 or MS290. You see a lot of farm boss bars on a lot of saws. A farm boss bar will fit on a 660, i.e., same bar mount etc. the "farm boss" name started on an 041 back in the day, but two 041s with one wearing the farm boss logo and one not wearing it were the exact same saw.

The "farm boss" logo was as much of a gimmick as a decomp on a 023 or 026.
