I just jumped all over Hamer's at $225 , a little birdie is telling me EZ blase softies will be $240 spring buy , now that other stuff the DF's and such that are priced $350 + knock $50 off a ton , and I might think about it but even then I doubt I'm rushing out the grab a ton . My personal price point is $250 or less.
True but last year at this time all the Lowe's were swimming in pellets 200 + tons a quick check here and most are 70 ton or less
on reflection, its actually a good point....I gather the BB's have already toned down their inventory levels....halfway thru winter. I wonder at what point the stop ordering altogether? This used to be the end of February thru early March. If so, will the producers/wholesalers do the same thing for the retailers? Still a tad early to guess.
They have , kind'a the way they used to , before the couple of years of pellet shortages , I think most stores have gotten their last loads maybe one more at the most , as they are already changing over to spring , at least down here garden seeds are out ... I can't say what the mills and wholesalers are thinking . I guess that would depend on how much product they have sitting on the ground that they need to move , which could lead to deals for you , and in turn us the consumers .
I would most likely have to grab a ton of Hamer's at that price. I literally have no idea where I could get them for any price around here. But if I could find them would guess that they sell for well over $300/ton. I know the local Aubuchon's has a lot more pellets sitting in their parking lot than they did last year. both GS & Inferno's. They probably can't figure out why they haven't moved any (1 ton has been removed in the last month).
I think we will still see some serious deals when the BBS are looking to move out the inventory. It's the waiting for it to happen that's the problem.....
Not sure I would bank on the prices hitting the same level as this past spring.. Don't think I would wait for $149 deals.. But with the BBS... who knows? For me, I would think that if you saw "decent" stuff, going for $249 or so, that would be about the best you could see.. but even that is optimistically low.. Naturally, this is in my area... Not interested in Northwest pricing on DF's, for example... Or Craigslist... But retail outlets, here in NH.. Dan
yes, given a NE locale, I don't think you'll see DF pellets of any kind going for less than $200/ton. But as for more regionally local product, maybe. This is factoring out things like "going out of business" sales, etc. More alluding to product you'd normally find in the Big Boxes. Sure, the BB's might dump at some point, but I am guessing that's March, and given the fact that this year they don't appear to have the stocking levels they had last year, I'm guessing they will run out in most cases before this happens.
That's what I actually think is probably going to happen especially if we hit a bit of a cold spell. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a good deal though.
I am not ready to take in more pellets atm. One spot in basement that I put a ton, currently has other stuff in its place. Maybe end of march I can take in another ton or so.
Well now that Hamer has extended the $30 off deal thru Feb. I'll be grabbing another ton in a few weeks , I'll burn thru 40 bags this month , makes room and then just replace with another ton at $225 , that should set me up very nicely going into spring .
