I had no idea there was other people out there livin the hardwood life....... takin every backroad possible looking for downed oak, constantly wondering if that was the storm that brought those madrones down you seen leaning for the last year off the side of green valley.... constantly cataloging in the mind learners and sidehillers locations then taking that route after every good rain..... I look around here and feel right at home..... Just a little pile I been working on, probably two or three good storm scores, black oak, tan oak, madrone and some bay ( laurel )..... can't get out to the main pile,too muddy, so this is a temporary dump spot...... A warm welcome from Canada VTW Yes it is a sickness we have but I love it! I as well spend lots of time crawling through the woods looking for my next victim but its a bit harder doing that right now with all the snow on the ground.
Madrone is awseome firewood that barely anyone outside of norcal or the Pacific Northwest knows about. Welcome to FHC, VTW ! Whereabouts are you in norcal? From the sounds of it, you are up in squatch country.

It's arguably the best hard wood in my area. No bark to speak of , she pops right open wet or dry and burns hot and clean!! After a week of burning straight madrone the ash comes out in one big chunk like coal...... I'll get some pics once the suns up.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
