A little too much ash...

Had kind of a rough day at work yesterday so what else better to do when you get home but bust some ash rounds! Whipped out the new axe and on the second piece there goes the ol' stump! Son of a.....!!!
Luckily I've got a hoard of rounds, enter the gnarly silver maple stump and resume action. Half hour= 3/4 face cord split including stump change.

 

Hard day at work. Split the stump. Hmmmm.... Me wonders who's face you were seeing on the round you were splitting. ~smile~

Let me ash you something. Can one really ever have too much ash? Me thinks not....

 

Well looks like you can use the stump for something else now...should be cured.

Wwweeellll I think it was a box elder stump from a tree cut out behind the barn by the previous owner and it was here five years ago when we moved in and has some non fhc approved words carved into the top from the previous owner as well. So it was pretty soft in the bottom and finally gave up

I change out my splitting stump about once a year. Just so I have a good strong stump to work with.

 

Does it stand for " just my luck" ? After splitting the the stump you have to wonder.

 

Yeah it usually does I have a tendency to always end up with the broken stuff haha

 

Stacked it this am and filled some in with the hydro buster.... although did a little bit of sugar maple with the ax too had to quit for a while because of some hard snow the handle was getting pretty slick oh and it was lunch time
