Stopped by my dealer today for some ripe gasket since mine was due for a change. Saw they had some new Douglas Fir Pellets. Purcell pellets. Anyone heard of them? Once the madness of the shortage is over I may grab some bags for a review.
Same pellet as North Idaho Energy Logs. See link for trade mark details. http://www.trademarkia.com/purcell-premium-pellet-85973247.html Edit: I think I remember chatting with @Lousyweather about them in a PM a while back. I think he said he tried them. Hopefully he responds
Thanks J!! They also sell the North Idaho Energy. I think the Purcell are going for $300 a ton. They had a line of people getting pellets.....
Lemme guess, You picked up a few crumbs that were on the ground? Shurely you didn't waste energy carring a whole bag! I might take em if they were free or so cheap it felt like stealing em!!
This situation is exactly why I try to get at least 75% of my stash in the basement in the spring, or no later than mid August. I read about too many pellet burners who say "oh, there's been plenty of pellets around.....I'll just go out in the winter and pick them up when I need them". Not looking like a great strategy right about now.
Oink. Prepare for winter never let it hit you in the head on its way through, it always hurts that way.
I'm pretty much loaded up for next season but I'm always on the lookout...oink Always try to stay a year ahead, give or take
Yep, I had plenty. Just more is always better! So, even more is better yet? May still stuff it full again before the summer, Cause Now that I'm burning mostly box store stuff. I'll highly bet they will be $229 next season. Been going up $10/ton since I bought the beast. So If I can get em for $219 this summer means I got another $10 in the beer kitty slush fund!!
Don't see prices dropping anytime soon...European spot prices are up about $15 in the last month alone. That doesn't effect all US/Canadian mills, but it does put pressure on those who can/will sell overseas taking product off the market for domestic sales...just sayin...
