Wood ID please?

    I would say Mulberry, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

    It splits easy, has strait grain and really doesn't have a smell to it.

    Yup!, nice wood and great for smoking! Grizzly Adam hooked me up with a couple pieces once for smoking, Been on the hunt for it ever since! :binoculars:;)

    No way is that scaly thing a mulberry.
    This is a mulberry that I cut in my back yard after eating its fruit for several years.

    I took the picture to show some noodling but you can easily see the bark is not at all like in that picture posted by the OP.
    To me, his picture looks like some kind of evergreen bark, like maybe some spruce.

    The first two pics make me think it looks like Walnut, with the dark color inside with a light wood ring on the outside, potato chip bark. BUT, the rest do not look like it at all....

    :confused: I've always noticed a ever slight greenish tint in the wood, even in your chips...
